I just started supplementing my baby about 24 hours ago (offering 2oz of formula after breastfeeing- until I get enough expressed milk) and I am afraid she is getting constipated.

When I was just breastfeeding she was pooping 10-12 times per day, and she has only gone twice since starting with the supplement. I am using similac.

When I was feeding her last, I could tell she was trying to poop. Normally it would just come right out and we could hear it coming. But this time there was only a tiny bit in her diaper.

Is it too early to tell that this formula is a problem for her? At what point do you know?

I would guess it was too early. Give it a little longer...

We didnt decide to switch until we had the same issue for two weeks. I believe it can take up to a week to see the effects of formula.

it is true the BF babies dont poo as often but if the baby isnt straining or in pain and is still going a couple times a day I dont think that there is an issue
