Well I thought you gals would be the best people to ask since my doctor refuses to discuss anything about formula feeding with me without asking me 1,000 questions as to why I'm not breastfeeding. I've heard from different people that tap water is okay with formula and some people tell me no to use bottled water (like the kind that comes in the gallon jugs at the store). So my question is which do I use?

I use tap water. When I am on the go, I have a jug that fits on the side of my diaper bag with tap water in it. Some use nursery water. You don't want to use regular bottled water that YOU would drink cause there is no flouride in it. If you scroll down some, you'll see where there is a post about water.

Tap water for us! Although when we've been on vacation we've used bottled water and will DEFINITELY be using bottled when we go to Mexico.

I've been told that tap water is good unless it is well water (which could still be fine but may need to be tested?). We have city water so I use the tap water for Ally's bottles.

As far as using tap water. I think it is ok depending on where you live. At our old house the tap water had a yellowish tint to it and I wouldn't feed it to my dog or cat so there is no way I would give it to my baby!! I used nursery water when I was using powdered formula. We then had to switch to pediasure because of weight gain issues. Now last weekend we moved and the water looks better but I am having it tested (this afternoon actually) so we will soon find out if it is safe to drink.
There is a company in my area that will come out and check the water for free. They call you when you move and offer to test it. I will see if they are nationwide and if I can get any info on how those of you that live elsewhere can get your water tested...if you are interested.
