I bought a whole bunch of Avent bottles when Jessica was born in June 2006. They were wonderful! When I bought the next size nipple, I didn't realize that stores were selling a newer nipple along side the older ones. These new ones have a red & white sticker on the package labelled "Reduces Colic". THEY LEAK!!! When you compare the design, the newer nipples are slightly different. When feeding my baby with the newer nipple, milk would leak out between the ring and bottle. Milk would also splatter all over the room when I would shake the bottles to mix the formula. I contacted Avent America and the customer service rep told me that these new nipples are supposed to be overtightened. NOWHERE on the Avent web site, or in the package instructions does it advise to overtighten, in fact they tell you to never overtighten. If you DO overtighten them, you have to screw them on so tight, you can't get them off. That's the only way to stop them from leaking. Or, you do what I did .... buy as many of the older nipples as you can, in the sizes you need for now and future. I've had no problems using the older nipples. I will not buy the newer ones again.

Wow! That stinks! I don't have avent bottles so I don't have to worry. I hope they don't plan on taking the older ones of the market!

I use the nipples that came w/ my 9 oz bottles (the ones with 2 holes) and the rings leak HORRIBLY. I think I am going to throw them away, the flow is too fast for her anyway, and it creates more work for me to clean up the milk that sprays and then change her clothes because it drips all over her. GRRR stupid Avent.

I just wanted to add.. that i have the gerber Avent immatations as well as the avents themselves. The gerber ones do the EXACT SAME THING also, when u try to over tighten them, the nipple caves in on one side, thus resluting in ubber leaking, or the nipple itself retracts into the bottle cause u to have to fish it back out evey mintue or so. I'm sticking to the darn even flows from now on
