Ava started out on Enfamil Lipil in the hospital but became very gassy here at home so we decided to try this Gentlease formula since my OB office gave me a sample can. It reduced the gas but increased her pooping. It also changed her poop from a softish yellow to a runny tannish greenish poop...and from once a day to 4 or 5. I wasn't sure if it was the formula or not so when we were done with the sample and the large can i bought we went back to the other Enfamil and her poops went back to the way they were (of course her gas increased too)...so I can only assume it was the Gentlease. So I don't think I'll go back to it cause even though it reduced the gas the trade-off was more poop and runnier and green...so how would I know if she had a stomach bug? Just wondering if anyone else tried this formula. We are gonna try switching her to Nestle Good Start (it's what my son used) and see how she does on it. I noticed Parent's Choice has a Gentle Ease one too and so does Target...but after my Enfamil experience I am afraid to try them. I do think the gas is from the milk protiens or the lactose...so maybe a lactose free is the way to go...i don't know...my son had aweful gas and lactose free didn't change it...the Nestle helped some I'm assuming from the "comfort proteins".

I'm just lurking here, but wanted to respond to you. Gentlease was the only formula my daughter could tolerate. It did increase the amount of poops hse had per day, but that was no big deal to me compared to the gassines sor constipation she got with other formula. THey were a little runnier, but you could definitely still tell if she had a stomach bug. I did use the Walmart version of Gentlease too and found it worked just as well as the Enfamil for about half the price. We tried regular Enfamil with Lipids, Similac, Nestle Good Start, none of them worked. I was actually trying to relactate because I thought we;d never find a formula that would work when we finally found the Gentlease. Of course, you should talk to your pediatrician amoutn the consistancy and frequency of the poops, but if they say it's okay, I really did like the Gentlease.

thanks...i've put her on Nestle Good Start and she's doing very well on it so we'll probably stick to it...it too changed the consistancy and color of her poop (and she's back to once a day now), but their website tells you to expect this because of the broken down whey protiens...i can only assume that's what was going on with the Gentlease too since it too had broken down protiens. It's such a difference from Enfamil Lipil....it mixes better too...I had such trouble with bubbles in the regular Enfamil and clumping with the Gentlease...but no clumping and no bubbles with Nestle.
