At 37 weeks pregnant, I went into the hospital with contractions 3-5 mins apart. I waited for 3 hours while they were like this to go in. I went and they checked me. Only 2cm and 50%. I walked for an hour, but nothing happened. At this time, she said "Wow, this is a big baby." They tried to give me drugs to ease them and for me to sleep, but I refused.

At my 39 week appt, I asked the doctor if I could be induced to FMLA for my DF. He replied yes, so we went from there. I went in on 4-1. I was 3cm and 75%. They started pitocin at 11:30am. I sat there all day. They kept increasing the dosage, but nothing. I felt no pain from contractions. I told them to break my water and it would work. They neglected.

Well at 12:05ish on 4-2, they broke my water. I was fine til then. The contractions hurt and got worse. The nurse tried turning down the pitocin, but it didn't work. The anesthesiologist got there. He gave me a combined spinal and epidural, because with dd#1 epi didn't work. Well it took. I laid back. She searched for like 15 mins trying to find the heart beat. She called another nurse to put the monitor on her head. As I moved for this, she said the head is right here, we need the doctor.

The doctor, whom I loved, came in and said ok a trial push. I pushed and he said STOP!! I had pushed better than expected I guess. It took 4 pushes and she arrived at 12:48 am.

If I had been checked before the anesthesia, I would not have received it, so I was glad. Women who do it without are by all means STRONG women!!
