So I went in on Wednesday for my usual weekly check up knowing that I was scheduled for an induction the next morning. Tinkled in my cup and went to my room to wait on the doctor as normal.
The doc was at a delivery so I was seeing a NP instead. Everything checked out fine and she just said to wait because she wanted to check my urine sample. Well about 15 minutes went by and I thought that was strange finally there was a knock at the door and my doctor came in. She said there was protein in my urine and that I was not showing any other signs of pre-E but would rather be safe than sorry. So she asked me to go straight to LD from there!!!!!
Needless to say I was not prepared for that, but I headed over to LD around 11 am on Wednesday but wanted to wait for my husband to get there before I got the IV or anything because I am deathly afraid of needles. BTW, I was at 4 cm at the doctors office.
By 1 pm I had the IV and they started the pitocin shortly after that. Doctor came in to check me about 1:30 pm and said I was at 5cm and wanted to break my water so she did. Then around 2pm I got the epi so I could relax. I was progressing quickly so they thought I might have the baby by 4pm. Well I was dialted to an 8 by 4pm but she was not engaging in the birth canal well and they kept laying me on my side and just swtiching me back and forth. At 5:30 the nurse finally let me sit up but wanted to watch the baby for heart declines.
At 6pm the doctor came back in and said the baby was down and I was at a 10 and said she was going to a consultation on another floor but that I could start pushing. They no more than got me feet in the stirups and I pushed one time and the nurse quickly told me to STOP and that they needed to get the doctor back in there.
I waited about 5 minutes, exposed to the world I might add because me feet were still up in the air while all these people were moving around the room getting things ready. The doc came back laughing and said she really thought she had more time than that.
I started pushing at 6:15 and 2 pushes later at 6:21 Kyndal Paige was welcomed!!!
She was 8lbs and 20 inches long.
That whole process is just amazing to me!
