So, I went in at 7 am on June 2nd to be induced only to be told that the delivery rooms were full and they would have to call me when one opened up! But since I was already there, they gave me an iv with the antibiotics since I have strepp B. So we got that (it took about an hour!) and then I went home. At about 10am, I got a call to come in at 11am. So we went in and they started a very slow drip of pitocin. I was just over 4 cm dialated and my sac was bulging at this point. At about 1pm, my doctor came in to break my water. I was up to 5cm at this point. He decided that he wanted me to get the epidural first because he was worried the delivery would progress really fast after he broke my water and their wouldn't be time for an epidural. So I got the epidural and he came in at 2pm and broke my water. They checked me at 3pm and I was at 7cm. Then at 4 I was still at 7cm. So the doctor came back in and felt down to check me and noticed that there was a little sac of fluid and my water hadn't broke all the way and it was preventing the babies head from dropping down. So he broke it then at 5:30PM or so I felt a ton of pressure and it started to hurt, so I told the nurse. She checked me and I was fully dialated. So they gave me a bit more pain killer in my epidural and the doctor came in at 5:45pm and after 2 pushes, she was out and born at 5:59pm. She weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and was 22 inches long. We were debating between the names Sadie and Shaye, but she looked so much like my 21 month old named Skye and I thought Shaye would fit (I like the ways Skye and Shaye sound together!) She was such a trooper! I had a hard time the first night in the hospital with after birth pains but it was all worth it!
