Here's the Cliff's notes version! lol
6/8/09 5:00am - Thought my water broke
6/8/09 5:30am - Arrived at hospital
6/8/09 5:30am-7:45am - Observed for contractions; swab test done to see if water really did break; ultrasound to check amniotic fluid. Was 1cm dilated, 50% effaced.
6/8/09 7:45am - Told I was being discharged.
6/8/09 8:00am - Discharge pushed back an hour; baby's heartrate dropping with contractions. More observation.
6/8/09 8:15am - Was told I could eat.
6/8/09 8:30am - Was told I COULDN'T eat, incase I needed to be induced or had to have a c-section.
6/8/09 8:30am-11:00am - More observing.
6/8/09 11:00am - Dr Johnson comes and tells me I can't go home because of baby's heartrate. I have 3 choices: a) induction w/ Cervidil and Pitocin b) induction with just Pitocin or c) c-section. We went with option a.
6/8/09 2:00pm - Cervidil in place, told it would be in for 12 hours (until 2am), and then at 6am Pitocin would be started.
6/8/09 2:00pm-6:30pm - Contractions picking up, but not very painful.
6/8/09 6:30pm - Moved to recliner instead of laying in bed.
6/8/09 6:30pm-7:00pm - Water actually broke on it's own!
6/8/09 7:00pm-9:00pm - Contractions getting very strong, could no longer speak through them.
6/8/09 9:00pm - Labor progressing very quickly, Dr Johnson decides to remove Cervidil 5 hours early! Was 3cm dilated, 50% effaced.
6/8/09 10:00pm - Pitocin started at low dose. Offered meds, declined.
6/9/09 12:00am - Requested Nubain. Was able to sleep for about an hour.
6/9/09 1:15am - Nubain wore off, asked for more but ended up getting Epidural instead.
6/9/09 1:20am - Anesthesiologist in to administer Epidural. Done twice!
6/9/09 1:30am - Epidural done and in place, legs heavy and not feeling contractions. Blood pressure dropped, had to get meds for that and also oxygen mask.
6/9/09 1:45am - Epidural not working anymore. Can feel my legs and my contractions now. Nurse injected more of the Epidural medicine.
6/9/09 1:45am - Checked by nurse and I'd be pushing soon! Was fully dilated and effaced and she could feel his head! Nurse goes to let Dr Johnson know.
6/9/09 1:50am - I tell Rob, my mom, and Nancy that I need to push NOW. Rob runs to find the nurse and tells her.
6/9/09 1:50am - "Practice" pushes with the nurse to see if I can bring his head down! I do! Dr Johnson called into room stat.
6/9/09 1:55am - Can't control pushes anymore, Dr Johnson ready JUST IN TIME!
6/9/09 1:55am-2:00am - Pushing! (through 3 or 4 contractions total)
6/9/09 2:00am - Chase William is here!
