We started with rice cereal, then sweet potatoes was the next.
FWIW, I read somewhere that for breastfed babies, it doesn't matter if you start with a fruit or a veggie, breastmilk is so sweet that they're already used to sweet things. I honestly don't know if it makes a difference either way - I think all babies will eat how they want to eat, and they'll all hit a picky phase (even the most adventurous of eaters!) at some point.
