I plan to start with cereal first, but I've been thinking beyond that about what food she'll eat first. Should it be a fruit or a veggie?

Cereal first. Then the doctor said begin with yellows and work into darker foods.

I think you will get differing opinions on this. at one time it was said to try veggies first so they just don't get used to fruits.

we started with pears after cereal.

We started with rice cereal, then sweet potatoes was the next.

FWIW, I read somewhere that for breastfed babies, it doesn't matter if you start with a fruit or a veggie, breastmilk is so sweet that they're already used to sweet things. I honestly don't know if it makes a difference either way - I think all babies will eat how they want to eat, and they'll all hit a picky phase (even the most adventurous of eaters!) at some point.
