I'm so happy, she is doing much better with her rice cereal! She now finishes her whole serving and cries and bangs on the high chair when its all gone. Today we're moving up to 2x a day. She had cereal this morning and she'll have some this evening.

We took a 3 day break last week, so in total she's been eating the cereal for about 5 or 6 days. I was wondering when it would be okay to move on to something else. We have a box of oatmeal, and I see that it says its for babies who are ready to move beyond rice cereal. I don't wanna switch anything yet since she's just gotten the hang of eating it and has begun to enjoy her rice cereal. But I was wondering when others (those who began with rice cereal) moved on to something else.

that is great !!!!

we moved to oatmeal after about 4-5 days.....and never went back !!
really the only reason I gave it to her at all was to make sure she was not allergic to it.
oh just wait until you add fruit to her cereal, she will LOVE it !!
I think I started Katie with pears after the rice. they are kind of mild, they won't make her gassy, or constipated.

if you want, try adding a small bit of pureed pears to her rice, or after you try the oatmeal...maybe once a day and see how she does.

KUP!

I decided to try the oatmeal out this morning, since it seemed like she was getting bored with rice cereal. The last few days she wasn't eating as well as she had been. I had cut down the amount she was eating, but she still wasn't finishing the small amount I gave her. She ate the oatmeal right up this morning. I'm gonna get her some more cereals when I go back to the grocery store. I think I'm gonna get the multi-grain cereal and I think I saw barley too...

that is great Tia...sounds like she is going to do just fine with solids.
Barley is also a great one to try...Katie has that once in awhile with pears but oatmeal rules with her...lol

I can't wait to mix fruits with her cereal. I'm trying to hold off though. We've had so many problems with Trinity breaking out in bad rashes. Just spontaneously...no apparent reason at all. We've tried so many things...over the counter stuff, prescription creams and shampoos, and we finally got some prescription hydrocortisone cream that did the job and no rash has returned since then. But the doctor said that she may (or may not!) be more susceptible to allergies, so she recommended holding off on everything but cereal until she's 6 months. I don't know if we'll wait that long honestly, but we're holding off on baby food for now since she's obviously sensitive towards something...we just don't know what. Its really tempting though!
