I started meats around 6 months - he had really low iron when I tested him, so I started him right away. He had the purees in a jar, and I pureed up some meat myself and froze it in batches. Now he just gets chunks of meat from me...it's hit or miss whether or not he likes them!
I don't have a baby at the moment but I've worked with infants in childcare for 15 years, and I found that if you want to use the jarred meats that babies take to it better if it is mixed with a fruit or vegetable. I do that a lot with the parents that insist on the jarred meats. Good luck!

The jarred meats totally gross me out... I will not be giving that to her. LOL but I will be starting her on home made pureed meats when she is about 9 months old. When we get through all the fruits and veggies I feel like she would like, then we will move onto chicken first probably.
I started at about 7 months with meats. I only used the jarred if she had it mixed with something else as she hated it alone. Now, she eats pieces of meat that I break up. She has 7 teeth but I still break it in pretty small pieces.
