Hi girls, I'm Jaycie, mom to 6 month old Jakob. (Hi Jan PR girls!!!)

I started Jakob on food about a month ago, so far he has had sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, peas, carrots, applesauce, and bananas. Sounds like a lot! He only gets 2tblspns of one veggie a day (same one for 3 days) and then I switch. And he gets 1 tblspn of fruit mixed with cereal.

Am I doing this right? It seems he likes to drink less from his bottle when he eats certain veggies. Think I am giving him too much? And sometimes he seems to act fussy when he has bananas. It could be in my head though!

Look forward to talking with you girls.

I am new here, too! Welcome, Jaycie!

I would try to not give him bananas for a while and see how he is, if he is still fussy and whatnot. As far as over feeding, I don't think you are.

Let us know how it goes!

Hey Jaycie!
Welcome! I'm Rusha, one of the hosts here.

My son is 8 months old, so I do know a few things, but not much! LOL

First, I think you are doing it right. I mixed Aiden's fruit with his cereal, and I also mixed his veggies for awhile too (not together, of course!) just until he got used to it.

The amounts you feed Jakob are perfect, but just make sure that when you are introducing new foods like differnet veggies or something, wait 3 days before trying something new so you can see if Jakob is allergic or not.

Bananas are a high allergy food, believe it or not...so he might be fussy because of this. Also, it is a gassy food so maybe it upsets his tummy a bit. Try giving him a different kind of fruit for a day or two and see how he reacts!
