This may be a silly question, but if a baby has a reaction to a food, does this mean they will have problems when they are older??? I had to cut back severely on dairy while BF because it upset Troy's stomach and every time I have given him oatmeal, he's had severe gas. Will this possibly change as he gets older???
He's had milk based formula as well some and he sometimes spits up from that but not always???
(I asked this in BTDT Moms as well)
I think it might just depend on the child. My older brother had something similar. For awhile they thought he may be lactose intolerant when he was tiny, but he's fine now. No problems with dairy at all. I think my cousins son had the same problem, but he's fine now as far as I know, he's 20. So I guess I would say it's a good chance he will be fine. But there's a chance he may not.
Dylan had problems with rice cereal and everytime he got it he threw up so we bypassed it all together. The dr said that just because he couldnt handle it now doesnt mean he wont be able to later. He also said that I should try the rice again in a month or two and see if he still has the same reaction. His little system may not have been mature enough to handle the rice. HTH
