I started giving Blaise cereal at 2 weeks, but he really didn't like it. So I tried again at 1 month, and he liked it. I starte giving him cereal at 1 month. I know they say don't give them cereal until 4 months, but my peditrician said it was ok. She said I would rather see a fat healthy baby, than a skinny baby. She also started her babies on cereal at 1 month. But everyone is different.

I gave it to Preston at 4 1/2 months from a SPOON. He still eats it for breakfasts.

2 weeks old is really too early. They dont have guidelines for no reason. Babies arent able to digest it that young. They should be strictly on a liquid diet, either formula or breastmilk. It also increases the chances of juevenile Diabetes and obesity. They just recently changed the guidlines from 4-6mths to nothing solid until 6mths. I can see someone giving it to thier kid as per a medical reason at a young age (ie. GERD, Reflux) but anything beyond medical reasons isnt nessecary. Fattening up your child is NOT a medical reason (unless they are failure to thrive) and even then, an increase in formula and breastmilk will in most cases fix that. In most cases with Failure to thrive babies (from what i have learnt) There is usually an underlying cause (ie. Gerd, reflux, genetic disease etc) I think (and the health dept) that solids shouldnt be introduced before 5mths. Well the health dept, thinks 6. Anyways thats just my two cents.

We totally skipped cereal - I read that it's just empty calories really and of no real nutritional value. She just had her first food tonight and it was about 6 bites of sweet potatoes.

I'm not sure what pediatricians are recommending starting any type of solids at 2 weeks, 1 month, or even 2-3 months... it is weird how these doctors are certified by the same medical board yet all follow their own set of "guidelines" instead of following what is recommended by the American Association of Pediatrics. Just seems so inconsistent to me.

My daughter still had her tongue thrust and gag reflex up until like 3 days ago!! lol

We tried rice cereal at 1 month but he seemed really gassy from it. So we decided to wait another month and then tried it again...still gassy so we switched to oatmeal creal and SUCCESS! We started with just dinner for about a week, then added breakfast, and then lunch.
