We started rice ceral around 5 1/2 - 6 months. We started it in the evening (like at dinner time). At that time Lily was getting a bottle around 7:30am, another around 11:30, another around 3:30, then cereal around 5:30 and a bottle before bed. So it didnt really subsitute a bottle.
Now she is on three meals a day, she gets a bottle in the morning around 7:30 then breakfast at 8ish. Then a bottle before her nap at 10:15, lunch at 12:30, bottle at 2 (before her nap), dinner at 5:30 and another bottle at 7-7:30.
Braxton actually should signs he was ready before he was 4 months.. But I waited until he was 4 months and the doctor gave me the go head.. I started him off with rice cereal.. I subsituted it for on bottle a day for a few weeks.. Then I added a jar a bananas to the routine.. I waited 5 to 7 days before starting a new food.. That way I could check for allergies... He now eats cereal, bananas, applesauce, carrots, sweetpotatoes, squash, and green beans..
