Does anyone know which one causes constipation, if any? My DD has had chronic constipation from birth and is on Nutramigen formula and that has helped really well. She's now on Rice cereal, and is doing wonderful, even having 2 BMs a day. So, my question is, if Oatmeal is known to cause constipation, I think I'm going to skip it and move right into the veggies and fruits.

TIA.

Rice cereal is the one that usually constipates children...it doesn't constipate them all though. Oatmeal is less binding than the rice cereal.

Yup, it's the rice cereal. My son has been on rice cereal for about 2 two weeks now and he just got constipated. I called his dr. and she said to stop the rice cereal and switch to oatmeal.
