From calling the doctor, thank you!!

1. When should they start getting juice?

2. After I introduce a fruit, can I mix that with her cereal in the morning, and give her the veggies in the afternoon? I think she should really start to have a veggie and a fruit once a day. I feel like she's lacking if she's only getting one or the other.

They say not to introduce juice until they are because they are worried they will get less formula. I have given Xander juice but even after starting solids he still takes in between 28-34oz of formula a day so I dont have to worry about it. Yes, you can mix fruit with the cereal..that is the only way I can get Xander to eat it...lol. He is picky.

It's important not to give TOO MUCH juice. Breastmilk or formula has more of the nutrients babies need, and excessive juice can cause diarrhea. It's no problem to mix either fruit or veggies with cereal. Really, once a baby is mature enough to eat solids they can pretty much eat what you eat (mash it up with a fork or whatever).

another tip with the juice...

don't put it in a bottle, and make sure you water it down like 80%water and 20% juice.

i say not to put it in a bottle, and to use a sippy cup instead, because it will be soooo much easier to break your little one of the bottle later on if she isn't used to having juice in the bottle.

good luck!

Ours is 10 months & gets no juice at all -- he takes so much fruit & veg that I don't see the point.
