I need to be pushed and unfortunately I feel like my mom is the only one who will push me but she does it in the nagging way which just doesn't help me. DF supports me but he says he doesn't think I have to change at all... so I'm not going to trust him to push me.
I'm going to try to put my daily food intake and water intake as well as exercise on here... So this is my weight loss thread. I just hope I can stick to it this time and make it work. I'm tired of being the fat girl...
I hear ya on having difficulty in being supported in the ways that actually help you. I have that problem too, and I just have a really hard time holding motivation. I don't wanna be the fat girl anymore, esp @ my own dammd wedding! ugh!
i'll try to frequent this subforum more and keep tabs on you!
ok so I am going to try this again. After the last post I made here, some stressful stuff happened but I am back to try this again. Thankfully in the month and a big that has passed, I have not gained any weight back. So I am pleased about that at least. I have a new goal now. I have thought it all over and considered the time I have to lose the weight I want. and I have given myself until 2 months before my wedding. So losing 2 lbs a week until then would be a total of 185 lost. I'd be happy with 125-150... but we'll see how this goes. I don't wanna be the fat girl at my own wedding. So again, please please please if you all don't mind, please try to help me stay on track... I really need help. I need to do this and I need to do this now...
I am trying to come to this subforum more often too.
Why don't u join my workout video challenge? I find videos push me quite a bit further than I'd go without them and they are either free (online) or cheap (the dvd's that i have).
I made up a "challenge"posting so that I'd have a set amount of workout time that I was working towards each week. It is 30 min three days per week, which isnt insane so you should come by and check it out!
oh yeah we included non video working out too, so if u do that still come over if u like, the video thing was more so that i would have no excuses, ie well i couldnt get to the gym blah blah blah hehe
i know u can reach your goal vienna! just keep at it!
*raises hand* add me to the slacker list also. I also am trying to stay in this subforum some more to get myself down in weight/BMI. So girl start posting away..I will try hard to help keep you motivated! (hope you help me also!)
ALRIGHT. I am going to make a commitment to bugging the hell out of you so you stay on track! I know how important this is... I'm trying to lose for my wedding also... and everyday I'm NOT actively doing something to get in better shape is a day wasted.
I'm here but I've been slacking! Well... I've also been working a LOT... anyways, apparently DF and I will be doing this together now, we're working out a work out plan... so I'm adding his ticker because I'm such a nerd lol
Ok so it's been awhile but I've finally put my plan back in motion. DF and I joined a gym, we went and did our first workout session and we're going back today. Now I just need to keep it up. I have the membership for a year so that's good. And also I think a motivating factor is the fact that I tried on a wedding dress for the first time the other day and was not happy with what I saw. I'm keeping that mental picture with me at all times and that makes me want to go back more and more. plus, it always feels so good after you've been working out. I can tell already that I've got more motivation for this than DF does but we'll see how this goes.
We took "before" pictures and got our starting weights so now we're going to be updating this every week as another motivation. Although I'm not posting the pics yet... mine are not pretty lol
hey there - i want to tell u that envisioning myself in my wedding dress really helped me push to my limits in getting fit for that day. I was even working out in the hotel gym when we got there! I think it's good to have that focus, plus u get the bonus of becoming healthier too and i think it really shows. i was looking back at pics yesterday and i glowed back then, so that's another reason why i'm back on this working out bandwagon too.
It's awesome that you and DF joined the gym, but dont let him dictate when you are going, stick to your plan!
(thats me trying to be pushy lol heheh) I also find that these days I think of the money that gets shelled out every month for the gym and that its wasted if i dont actually go, so that helps motivate me
Oh does your gym have classes too?
I have been doing the same thing. I was on the bike yesterday and after about 15 minutes, I was thinking "I don't really want to do this anymore, I want to get off" but then I was thinking about my wedding and how I want to look good. and I ended up staying on for 35 minutes which and going over 7km. so it definitely helps! that and the fact that I have a really good audio book on my ipod that I love having on while i'm doing the bike or whatever.
I agree, I won't let DF decide when we're going. I am actually going tomorrow morning (most likely) even though he's going to be at work. My gym does have classes that seem to be pretty popular, judging by the crowd that was pouring out of there the other night when we were going in. I'm going to have to look into what kind of classes they have and what they are like.
oh i love audiobooks on ipod!! podcasts too - i just downloaded the "learning french" podcast and i'm dying to listen to it.
I adore the classes at my gym. If you are doing cardio well on your own I would suggest a weights based class, or any type of 'toning' or 'sculpting' class. They won't get your heart rate racing but you will build muslce which will help you burn more calories all the time. (That's not to say they are easy classes!) If you want to try a bootcamp style class they will probably be the most challenging but also give you the most results, & they are major cardio workouts as well as tons of toning.
Any class you try for the first time, keep the weights to a minimum and see how you feel the next day. If you are just a tad sore (or not at all) you can prob increase your weights, but if you are incapacitatedly (is that a word? lol) sore then reduce your weights or don't use them. If you are sore but it feels mostly better in about 2 days you probably are at the right level weights-wise.
I also use my soreness to motivate me, like oh yeah baby my hiney is sore so its getting nice and toned!
oh yes, I know all about bootcamp classes... I did cardio-core bootcamp for 3 months and they work you like there's no tomorrow. it was insane but you definitely see results. my gym has a bootcamp class I think so maybe I'll look into that, if not now then maybe a little later on when I'm in a little better shape.
how do you download podcasts? I never have before. but i would love to get learning french or even learning another language!
Oooooo I've never taken a bootcamp class. They had one at my old gym, but the times were when I was at work or too early in the morning. I loved going to Zumba and BodyPump. I was a Zumba crackhead for a few months I loved it soooo much. Body Pump was a challenging class, but it toned me up a lot.
The other day I was on a treadmill and wanted to get off, but I was at like 147 calories burned(I powerwalk because it gets my heart pumping and I'm just not into running anymore) and I didnt want to get off at an odd number so I turned to one of my favorite songs and kept going until the song went off. It was like my motivation (although I still ended up at an odd number). So I just kept walking once that song was over until I got to an even number. I think it was around 180 cals.
I haven't tried with music yet, but we'll see how that goes. so far the audio book is working well for me lol (i even snuck one headphone on at work when my boss wasn't around lol (i work in the back part of the store where hardly anyone goes)
you can download podcasts from itunes for free. just go to the itunes store and there is a section for them.
there are tons of cool ones. yeah i wanna get done brushing up on my french then try another language, maybe spanish. i'd love to learn to speak inuktitut too, i almost moved up to Nunavut but then i met my dh and i decided to stay in southern canada (ha is southern canada an oxymoron? hehe)
