So I have been suffering from horrible menstrual migranes for awhile now and have tried every over the counter drug I can and I've somehow become immune to all of them. So frustrating! I've been looking into other options and found that the hormones in the birth control pills could be causing them. So I talked to DH and got him to agree (surprisingly easily!) that I could go off the pills. So I took my last pill this morning! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this puts the kibosh on the migranes. The one I had yesterday was the worst one yet.

But I'm also really curious to see what my cycle will do after being on them for so long. Should be interesting! And I may or may not be hoping we have a whoopsie before TTC this fall! haha

Boo for migraines but, yay for (sort of) starting TTC! Have you take different kinds of BC pills? Some of them have different, and different amounts of hormones.

Well at my last gyn appt last year, she mentioned that but instead recommended other meds to try out. So I was planning on asking her about that this time, but since I was wanting to go off them over the summer anyway, to get my body ready for TTC, I thought I would just ask the hubby if he was ok with me doing that now, and he said that was fine. So we'll see how it goes!

I hope that stopping the pills will get rid of your migranes. Maybe DH will get on board for TTC early!!!

Thanks ladies! Yeah I know he will definitely be excited when it happens, I think he just would prefer we wait till the fall. But if it does happen, I know he won't be upset about it. And when I brought up the "what if", he didn't seem too concerned. So that has to be a good sign!

So this was my first month off BC pills. Does anyone have any experience with going off the pill and then having weird cycles?

I'm currently on CD34. If I were still on the pill, AF would have started last Saturday. I'm pretty sure it's just my cycle being weird, because DH was sick most of the month and the few times we DTD we still used protection. I guess one of the times could have been close to O range, but I'm still thinking it's not that.

Before I started BC pills yeas ago, my cycles were always really random. Some months I'd skip AF completely, or just be really late. So I'm wondering if my body is just going back to that. I'm really hoping not though becuase now I'm afraid it will be hard once we do start TTC.

So I'm wondering if it's normal to first have a weird cycle and then if it will go back to a more regular pattern. Anyone have any ideas?

From my understanding, they say it take up to 3 moths to get back on to regular cycles.

Yeah, that's normal. Especially if your cycle was irregular to start with! When I got off the pill my first cycle was...48 days? Something like that. Long.

I've taken BCPs 2x (2 diff brands) and in my experience it made my cycles WACKO! anywhere from 28-36 days long. One was 42 days. It took my body a long time to get on track again, I am now (after 2 babies) having regular 28/29 day cycles. I wish you the best of luck and I hope your body gets on track SOON!

Ok, it's such a relief to know that this is definitely normal. Still frustrating not knowing when it's going to come. That's one thing I'll for sure miss about being on the pill. You ladies really are the best, thanks!

I put myself on BCP to regulate AF as it wasnt coming at regular times until i went on the pill...i was having quite heavy and painful AFs until i started taking the pill, i had been on it for almost four years and when i took myself off it i feel pregnant within about 6 months. when i had my DS my AF unfortunately didnt go back to normal because of hormonal issues and i too suffer from migraines sometimes daily..am back on the BCP now and have found my cycle is slowly returning back to normal.

Hope things work out for you and that you TTC soon, or hope that you get the answer you are after.

I have only AF twice since having DS and he is now nearly 7 months old

All the best and take care
