Yeah, I will always skew my GBS results in future pregnancies (Like I did with Hunter) so I won't be GBS+ again anyway, so no ABX (Again, i reitterate, i am NOT passing out medical advice, and I self treated my "GBS" by doing my own research and i would encourage anyone who is wary of abx to do their own research!)
My next baby will be born at a free standing birth center, with the same amazing midwife who has been there for my 2 kiddos (shes opening it, it will open this fall..im SO STOKED!) and she already knows my crazy ways so it will never be an issue...our family doctor also backs her up so no biggie

My son has had all his vaccinations. Personally I think vaccinating is important - you're not just protecting your own child but the other children they come into contact with too.

From someone who works in a hospital... we've seen A LOT of pertussis. My husbands cousin came down with pertussis (was not vaccinated) while she was pregnant and lost the baby. It can be really dangerous. If you stay home with your kids, it might not be a HUGE deal, but the risk is there. My son is fully vaxed mainly because i bring all sorts of gross bugs home from work.

I definitely agree that it is a case-by-case thing. If I worked in a high risk place (hospital, school, court house, etc) I would not hesitate to vax myself. We also dont live in a community where we're out at the mall, or something like that. Brylie pretty much plays in our yard or at my in law's house and rarely with other children (just because of the small community we live in)
I don't even attend very many in-college classes, i do as much as I can online.
The other thing that gets me, is most (not all) people who died from the pertussis outbreak last year were either vaccinated, or under 2m (so not eligible for the vaccine anyway)

Which is why I think it's important for us as adults to get the pertussis booster shot. I got it done this year so that it's just not something I have to worry about when the time comes to have my little one!

We do not do flu shots or the varicella vaccine but we will do all of the rest with both children. I am considering splitting Vincent's up because Lorena always got fevers when she got more than 1 shot at an appointment but we will discuss it with our pedi and his 2 month appointment.

I only do the DT (diptheria, tetanus). With my first baby I had him vaxed at 2 mos, started researching and then quit. But I did do the DT this past year for my oldest four. We don't live in a big city and our doc doesn't give us a big deal about it. My midwife always lets me choose the vit. K or not choose it.
Just curious, how did you treat your GBS? I tried with my fourth baby and was still positive so ended up on antibiotics. I am one of those who steers away form antibiotics if at all possible. With gbs, I had tried using some natural remedies first, but I can't remember what. Just curious if you could share, so I can know for future babies. Thanks!

We will delay hep B, we will do the Vit K, as it is to help with clotting factors. Babies don't have the necessary bacteria in the gut to make vitamin K and Vit K aids in clotting. My luck would be something would happen and somehow baby would get an internal bleed and bleed to death (which wouldn't take long), or the cord would seperate and baby would bleed to death from that, or something equally as unlikely, but because I am queen of unlikely, it would likely happen... lol
Anyway, the eye ointment we will get. I would hate to have an undetected bacterial vag. infection that got into babies eyes and he went blind. Again, only the unlikely things for me! LOL

I took a mild dosage of probiotics (the pearls) in the 2nd trimester and in my third trimester, a pretty heavy dosage. I also took Garlic (like a bit of the clove, swallowed it whole - garlic is natural antibiotics) from weeks 34-37 (when I had my GBS "Swab") - but really, my midwife has you swab yourself..and I didn't really do anything, i just touched the swab to my skin and handed it back to her
I also did a hibiclens rinse right before my swab (When I peed in the cup, i washed with the hibiclens then, and I also did it in the shower right before my appt)...had my water ruptured in labor, and been ruptured more than 18 hours, i would've started doing a hibiclens wash q3h (every 3hr, sorry) but i assume my water broke right before i went to the hospital in the shower (I walked into the hospital pushing)

i would absolutely do vit k (oral) if baby was born with any trauma/bruising/etc...otherwise, eh i can't help but think there's an unknown reason that every single baby is born with "low" vitamin k, you know?
as far as the eye ointment, i really have no strong feelings on that, we just dont do it

I have always just given my kids all the vaccinations because I figure thats what most people do. They never harmed me or anyone I know so I am not really concerned.
One thing I do regret however is circumsing my boys. I never wanted to but my DH insisted and I gave in. Not only putting them through the pain but I feel like I took something from them in wich I had no right to.

It's weird, it's like the husband's insist on circumcision because that's what they had done and that what everyone "thinks" a penis should look like.
I need to ask my husband how he feels about this...

i dont think any father/son will actually compare circumcised/intact penises. I would think a little boy would be way more interested in why dad has hair, than anything else. Hunters intact and Sam is circ'd (which he is NOT happy about) so we'll see, but from what ive read about real life scenarios is that little boys often wonder why dad's is bigger and has hair.

i was never vax as a child and neither was a brother so i will be vaccing any of my children i've always been healthy and never had any problems i even lived through chicken pox whooping cough and the H1N1 flu. i definitely would never give a daughter of mine the Gardasil vaccine to many people have died or gotten horrible side affects from it and most of the time it hasn't even done anything

I guess it depends on your views, I was vaccinated, so was my daughter was as well, and in most schools here in California they MUST be vaccinated to attend. Again, it's a health issue for your child and other children, based on you don't know what anyone else is carrying. Better safe than sorry IMHO. Vaccinations reactions are different but for the majority, they are okay. However, to each their own.
