Ready but not ready

I have been with my boyfriend for over a year. he has lived with me for about 7 or 8 months. His 7 year old son lives with us full time as well.

I am 25, boyfriend is 32. we have an amazing relationship. He still gets my heart pounding just by looking at me.

We want a baby. We want a baby sooo bad. But I'm not working right now. And his one job just covers our household expenses, and so it's not the right time yet.

We also want to get married first. We plan on being married before the summer of 2012 is over. Just a small wedding, 30 or so people. We aren't engaged yet, but have gone ring shopping, and he told his mom he's going to marry me and her reply was, "Good. I know." lol.

So many next steps we so badly want to take but finacially we need to just keep trucking along.

Jan 3rd I am going to find out if I can get financial aid to go to school for teaching, so if I am able to get money towards living expenses, he said we can take the next step. I also have an application in to be a teachers aid in the school district. I will find out about that in Jan as well.

So as it stands right now, by the middle of january, we will know when we can start trying.

But he's 32, and owen is 7. The longer we wait, the older the both of them get. Its so hard to wait, even when you know it's the right thing to do!

Waiting is hard when the planning is so exciting!! But pregnancy and your new addition will be even that more exciting when you don't have the addedmoney stress. Welcome to the waiting room

I completely know how you feel! It can be so tough to wait, especially when it comes to the financial aspect of it. Sounds like you both are really working to get your ducks in a row before you begin TTC, which is definitely the smart way to go! Good luck with getting everything worked out, and welcome to WTTC. There are some awesome ladies here on the board

There have been one or two times where we almost just did it lol.

Like one night, I had forgotten to pick up my bc and it was 2am, and I looked at bf and said, I've had a couple drinks, sooo either you take me to get it, or we start picking baby names

He sat there for a minute and he was like, ugh, lets just go, we can't afford a baby.

Especially with the added factors:

We just spent like $200 on Owen for Christmas.
We just recently got custody of him, and haven't yet gone back to court to stop the $300 a month Eric is paying in CS for a child he has full time. (January we will get that sorted out though.)
BF's car (Its actually a honda odyssey that he got when his grandma died,) even though is in very good shape for a 2003, it needs about $200 worth of touch ups before it's baby safe. (Transmission flush, two new front tires, etc.)

So yeah, me getting a job is really going to speed up the process.

I mean for crying out loud we already have NAMES picked out that we like!

I love seeing older siblings helping out and stuff. I know that Owen is going to be just one more person for the next kid to look up to. I can see him driving him to his friends house and taking him to school and stuff.

I just really want a baby.

My niece is turning 2 in January, her mom is actually on here, its how I found out about this site. I adore her to pieces and I have been a big part of her life since the day she was born, and while I am thrilled to see her grow up, I miss her being so tiny! lol.
