Hi ladies,

I've been avoiding these boards lately because they haven't been helping my baby fever. However, I'm having a *really* bad day and (almost) no one IRL understands.

Today, it was announced that the governmental agency that I work for will be "rightsizing" in the next few months. This was not unexpected. I've actually known it's a possibility since before Christmas. However, another recent (i.e. today) development has led me to believe that there is a greater possibility than anyone is letting on that I will end up losing my job just before or just after graduation in May. So, no job, no insurance, and no idea what I'm going to do. Plus SO's job situation is tenuous at best.

Add to that a co-worker who's wife (that I graduated HS with) is due to give birth to a little girl any day now and my best friend who found out this morning that she's having a girl. Needless to say I'm about to go into breakdown mode.

My goodness, what an awful day! So sorry to hear the stress you're going through. What degree are you graduating with? Hopefully you are able to find something quickly that you love and allows you to use the skills from your major. Sending you lots of hugs.

My degree will be in computer science. Hopefully I can find something if this job doesn't work out.

The deal is that I'm a co-op student with the job I'm at now. They have paid for books and tuition for the last 3 years. If they offer me a job after graduation I'm obiligated to accept it, or pay back the $$. I owe them right at seven years. However, if they cut my job or fail to offer me a position after graduation then my obligation is nullified and I essentially got a free education. Truth be told, I don't particularly care for my job and really want to go to grad school so that I can teach at the collegiate level. So, getting laid off wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would put off baby plans for awhile and I'm already 30.

The real problem is that no one can tell me one way or another what's going to happen with my job. I just feel like I'm getting jerked around about it.
