Ok, I have two sisters already, I have new sister I didn't know about. She's my half sister on my dad's side and is two years older then me! Wa-hoo I got a big sister!
Ok, backstory. My mom got pregnant at 16, my bio-dad was a piece of crap, they split up, she married my dad, he adopted me, I never knew my father's side of the family. So, I was bored one day and started looking random people up on facebook, including my paternal grandma, and sure enough, granny's got a facebook (and a twitter account she's very active on!). So I send her message, and send my mom a link and they start talking too. This goes on for awhile then we all decide to meet up for lunch one day. Which was awesome, I found out a ton about my hertiage (I'm native american, more on that in a minute), and she was thrilled to find out she's got two great-grandkids and she wants to meet my other siblings. So while we're talking she says something about how her other granddaughter would love to meet me and my kids. I ask if that's my cousin and she says "No, your half-sister?" then asks my mom if he never told her he had another kid. Nope...he never brought it up. Told you, piece of crap. Grandma muttered some words in spanish that you can't say on here. So she sends her text to find me on facebook and we friend each other and start talking.
I got to meet her a few days ago and it was awesome! She's happy to be an aunt, has no kids of her own, and is a lawyer. She's an only child (other then me), so my other siblings are happy to be surrogate siblings for her (I have two younger sisters, and two younger brothers, much younger). Its been great getting to know her, apparently dad never thought to tell either of our moms about the other kid.
So, my crazy hertiage. My mom always said my dad was Spanish (as in from spain), cause thats what he told her. Well grandma cleared all that up. He's not spanish. She's Mexican and Native American, and his dad was Native American, and she says on her mexican side there is Aztec blood but she isn't sure about how much or from whom. His dad was Navajo. See, all these years I've been checking the wrong boxes on forms! Its cool to learn about though, I always liked learning about Native Americans in school and felt an odd connection, but chalked it up to living the southwest most of my life.
Oh Facebook, how did we ever find long lost siblings and stalk ex-boyfriends before you.
