I hope you all don't mind if I come back to this board. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Shasta, 27. DH is Jesse, 26. We started TTC after DH came back from deployment in July, and haven't been able to get pregnant. I've seen a fertility specialist who diagnosed me with Balanced Reciprocal Translocation between chromosomes 1 and 4 and a MTHFR C677T mutation. It has been determined that we will need IVF to have a healthy pregnancy due to multiple issues that could arise from the chromosome abnormality. The chance of miscarrying is high along with the risk of having a baby with down syndrome or spina bifida if I was to carry a pregnancy to term without genetic testing on my eggs first. They do the genetic testing on the eggs to make sure the eggs split correctly so such issues don't come up and I can carry a healthy baby. I'm not sure how many of my eggs will be affected so we're pretty scared about what can happen. Unfortunately it seems like we'll be waiting at least 2 more years before we have the money to do IVF. I don't want to take the chance of TTC on our own with the chromosome issue and neither does Jesse so I'm thinking of going back on birth control (was thinking about Mirena IUD).
I know that's a lot of terminology to read so I wanted to keep it short. While I'm sad about not being able to have kids any time soon, I'm happy to be around you ladies again.
