I took my youngest son to his pediatric GI appt yesterday and we don't have to do the NG tube feeds anymore!! He did unfortunately loose weight though. He went from 19#13oz to 19#5.4oz. But since he is willing to take some of the special formula orally (he wouldn't take it orally before which is one reason why we had to go with a tube feed) and cause he's still nursing, he doesn't need to tube right now for the supplemental feedings. We do have to go for another weight check in 3 weeks, then 3 weeks after that to make sure he is maintaing a good amount of weight per day (the like 6-10 grams a day minimum) .
Anyway, we were able to take his NG tube OUT!! Yay!! <3 He had a ball playing in the tub last night without me worring about the tape getting too wet and him sneezing the tube out. And this past week he has been getting naughty with the tube. Trying to blow it out his nose and rub the tape off to get it out. It has been a fight when normally he's really good about it.
For the first time, he got to sleep in his own room almost the entire night. He woke once to eat, but then went right back to his crib and slept more. I was going to let him sleep in bed with us, but he was happier in his own crib! A girl could get used to this!!
We have been cleared to discontinue the Neocate (his special formula supplements)!! I was/am still a bit concerned about him getting enough nutrients, especially once the abundance of the fruits from the summer months is gone and when we wean come Dec/Janish, but they think he's getting a large enough variety were maybe just a D vitamin will pretty much do! Plus I guess at the end of Oct we will have his allergy testing and hopefully we will find out how much he has outgrown and how to better handle his allergies (if there IS a way to better handle them!)
