Probably not a joke. Child-led weaning is generally considered an AP thing. Most children wean earlier than 5 (my kids were just under 3 1/2 when they weaned). Some continue to nurse up until 7, but that's not common at all. The majority of kids wean by age 4 with the majority weaning between 2 1/2-3 1/2.

Oh my goodness. I have seriously never heard of anything like that. I was told kids are bottle/breast broke by a year, or two years at the most.... I live a sheltered life lol. My oldest was bottle-broke at a year and my youngest was bottle-broke at 10 months. That's very interesting that people nurse until toddler age.. what exactly are the benefits of it?[/b]
Well, the World Health Organization recommends that children be bf until they are 2 for nutrition reasons. Cow milk is,after all, for baby cows.
