Fell into AP bc my daughter was a preemie and I'm so glad I did. Wasn't familiar with AP until I was researching my thoughts/ feelings for her and how I wanted to raise her after she was born.

Great idea Sarah!
Name Michelle
Children and ages Samantha is almost 19 months
Any other info you want to share I met my dh in grade 4 and we started dating when I was 16. Yes we were high school sweethearts. We got married after living together for a year and just had our 12 year wedding anniversary and are coming up on 13 year wedding anniversary. We held off on kids for many reasons. I was a drafter at a survey company drafting oil wells and pipelines for oil companies. DH and I loved and taught scubadiving for about 5 years. I joined JM in 2005 to start researching about parenting. I found a neat little home in the debates and man did that open my eyes to the world of parenting and parenting choices. I hosted the spirituality board for a short time while I dove into my own spiritual path. I also started volunteering at the Distress Center. I was stoked and scared when we did get pregnant but that pregnancy was just the best ride ever! I was a regular on the debates and hosted it for a brief time. On July 21 at 9:20pm Samantha Jade arrived into this world. (That birth story has just been completed. So if you want some reading, post 1 and post 53 on page 3 sum it all up.) Thanks to JM I went through a journey of learning about vaccines too. I now host breastfeeding past on year because I felt no support anymore, anywhere. Many times I felt like my pure existence bothered some people who formula fed and I just didn't have anyone to turn to in real life.
You can also find me in the Choosing Not to Vaccinate board and my July 07 playroom. Cheers, Michelle

Any other info you want to share: BF, baby wearing, co-sleeping momma! My husband and I practice child led parenting though we didn't know there was a name for it until Julie was around a year old. We received a lot of grief from my in laws who have very traditional ideas on parenting and insisted we do the same. We went with our instincts and it didn't take long before we were reaping the benefits of our choices. We have been truly blessed.
I am so glad to find out there are a lot of families out there like ours

Any other info you want to share; DH and I met at work in Jan 2000. I remember that he was the only on who smiled at me the entire day. He had my heart from then on. I actually left the guy I had been with and we got together in May of 2000. By March 2002 we lived together with our 4 cats. Teegan, Mystic, Diego, and Niko. In Nov 2002 we decided we wanted to start a family. Between 2002 and 2004 we had 4 micarrages and were told we couldn't have children the natural way. There was something wrong with me. On Dec 26 2004 I had a feeling and I tested and sure enough we were pregnant. This time felt different somehow. There was a peace about it that I can't really put words too. In Aug 2005 we met our first daughter. In June 2006 we suffered another miscarrage. It was followed by yet another wonderful event in my life. We knew we wanted more children so I eventually decided to set up a consultation with a OB/GYN for the following year. I wanted to wait due to me having the c-section the first time, I knew the longer between pregnancies the better chance at VBAC. Well the appointment was set for Nov 14 2007. DH and I officially married on July 28th 2007, Kayla was my flower girl, by the end of Aug 2007 I had a feeling. We took test after test, blood and urine, I just knew. I can't explain it. All the test said no, my doctor said it was wistfull thinking. Well on Sept 22 we finally got our positive test, I was almost 7 weeks by then. I had that same sence of peace I had with Kayla. I found a midwife right away and in May 2008 we greeted our second daughter Karrigan. This past December I got that feeling again, after 2 weeks of testing we got a positive. Sadly we suffered our 6th miscarrage in early Jan. The girls I have trully are miracles that I will charish everyday of their lives. While I pray maybe someday more miracles will come, I will guard and love the ones I have with everything I have to give.

Children and ages: Haylee Nikkole (9), Hayden Bradley (7), Marisa Ruth (4), Marienah Kathleen-Iris (almost 5 months)
Any other info you want to share: When I joined the AP board, I didn't know there was actually a name for the way I parented. I just do what comes natural to me. I've done it more and more with each child. I also chose not to vaccinate Marienah but the other three kids have had all their shots and I feel bad for doing it now. I don't really like confrontation so I chose not to post if I think it's going to cause a problem. (that's why I don't post too often I guess) I have little to no support for the way I parent from my family and sometimes even DH. It's very frusterating, so it's nice to have somewhere to come for advice or just to vent.
I met my DH when I was 16 and married him when I was 18. We're going on 9 years this April. It's been tough but well worth all the hard work. He truely is my soul mate

Hello. I'm Kristen (27), mom to DD Emma (2 1/2 months) and wife to Derek (28)
When I was pg with DD, I noticed the AP board and was curious as to what AP was, so I decieded to check it out. Everything I read about AP seemed to be in line with the kind of parent I wanted to be. The day I brought Emma home from the hospital, I was freaking about about what to do and if I would be a good mother to her. My mom told me "Trust your instincts, you know what she needs." That's what I have been doing and so far both mom and baby are happy and healthy. DD is the love of my life and I can't believe how blessed I am to have her in my life

Other info: Co-sleeping, baby wearing, breast feeding, vegan, crazy mommy. Married to a wonderful co-sleeping, baby wearing, vegan, crazy man who gets upset when I fail to mention him as he happily points out I am not raising my daughter on my own . But really, he's awesome. And he does wear Rain! I've run across a few moms who say their hubbys won't (IRL mostly), so I always think "Yay me, mine will!".

Any other info you want to share: I am a firm believer in attachment parenting! Where we live, it isn't a big thing, and almost a bit taboo! As a result, I've actually started a small business, Attachment Mothering, based on educating parents and parents-to-be about attachment parenting and what it involves! Everything from baby-wearing to breastfeeding and co-sleeping to diapering options and lifestyle choices! There are some products that I make available to parents, and others I just make them aware of to help make the transition and whatnot easier! I've even done parties almost like Mary Kay where I cover the basics and we play with the products!

Any other info you want to share - I am glad that I found the AP board. I didn't realize that the way that dh and I were trying to raise our lo had a name until I became a member of JM. Most people we know including our family raise their children the traditional way so it's difficult for them to grasp that we want to raise our lo this way. So I am glad that someone is here that I can relate to. Baby wearing, co-sleeping and breastfeeding mama.

Children: Eric (7/31/06) and Danny (3/11/08)
Other: I am more a follower of the spirit of AP than the typical practices; I believe in following my children's cues and doing what works best for them and our family. BF and FF, crib sleeping and bed sharing, babywearing and strollers, c-section and natural birth, they all have found spots in our home. My younger son, Danny, is special needs and deaf with cochlear implants.
