So with my first son I pretty much held him in my arms most of the time. It was nice because I didn't really have much else I had to do and I enjoyed my time holding him. I thought about getting a sling but just ended up using a snuggli when DS got a little older. Anyway last week my second son was born. There is only 15 months between our two boys and after a week I'm realizing that I need a sling so that I can have my hands free to take care of my older son while I'm holding and caring and feeding the baby.

I have a hotslings but I'm not sure if it is just the wrong size or what but my little guy seems really smooshed in it plus his head often goes so far down in it and the sling comes around and covers his head and his neck and back just look like they are bent at an uncomfortable angle. Maybe I just don't know how to use it right.

Anyway my question is what are some slings that you would recommend for a newborn (preferably not too expensive as we're on a limited budget) or any recommendations or tips for getting them to fit and making sure the baby is comfortable. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I have a peanut shell and a moby wrap, I like the moby better. So many better way to wear your baby IMO.

I have Dr sears Nojo and a freedom sling. I like the dr sears best overall, but definately prefer the freedom sling with a newborn.
I think a sling is a real lifesaver omce you have two or more. i'd be lost without mine.

I couldn't get used to the sling but after 3 weeks of carrying DS and living in a chair I got a Beco Butterfly and LOVE IT. It is a soft structured carrier and I found that I felt like DS was more secure in it ... it was an added bonus that he would fall asleep the minute I popped him in it! (oh I miss those days LOL)
It's not to kind on the budget though... but you could check 2nd hand. I just sold my "Carnival" print for 65.00 so I could get a dif. color as DH isn't too into pink flowers LOL

I got the eddie bauer sling from target and it has worked great. It is very friendly on the wallet. She goes right to sleep in it...DH loves to wear her in it. I really like the sleepy wrap also.

Thank you! I figured there was a thread like this somewhere but I wasn't having any luck finding it. It has given me some ideas of some slings/wraps to try.

My favorite newborn sling is a wrap. Gavin was a preemie and at that time it was the only sling I could use with him. Once he reached about 4 months though I didn't like using the wrap much anymore and went to using a ring sling and Mei Tai. I love pouches but Gavin didn't like them at all (my daughter loved them though).

I would do a Moby. Of course you could just make your own. Make a Wrap
