I really would like to see that whole documentary. I find it astonishing that we don't recognize this problem more fully in pour society. It is amazing what we take for granted...that we don't realize it IS different in other places, not everywhere do they allow children to be targeted in this way. It is really really sad. I don't mind Jonah watching movies as much as I do worry about TV & it's commercial influence. We do watch some, but I also do try to record things on Tivo & fast forward through as much of that junk as I can.

I really liked this.

I think being aware of things like merchandising and advertising and the effects they can have on our children is important. What I got from it was that we have to make sure we are countering those outside influences by striding for emotional, cognitive and spiritual development before the ads get to them.

As a child that was generally raised by TV and the world around her, rather than my parents, I know how crucial it is to lay a solid foundation for our kids. If we don't do it, the corporate monsters will gladly have our children.
