IF you do this does anyone one minding taking a few pictures so I can show my husband what I am talking about??? Also if anyone has any instruction links or anything could you please share. I don't think we will have the money to get a co-sleeper for at least 2 months so my daughter will be here before that. But we already have the crib that doesn't get used...so why not see if we have the space.

We have had some bad luck lately....spending 300 dollars at the vet for my dog who we had to say good bye too...then my husband having emergency eye surgery and missing work...my car breaking down on the way to take my husband to have the surgery...and now I think my hot water tank is going out............All while I am suppose to be taking it easy since I am showing signs of pre-term labor.....

I'm so sorry for your string of stress!!!! Yikes!!! How are you keeping yourself calm??

As for the side car crib...Me too!!!! I have a bit more time but I also will be doing it so I would LOVE a few pics..I know there are people here that do it so hopefully we'll get a quick response. I was just going to set the crib up without one of the siderails on it and not put the wheels on the crib.I think thats it.

This is what we use:

Bedside cot - Beech finish : mothercare

It's not a perfect "fit" against the side of our bed, but then we have an odd frame. We bought some high-density foam to fill in the gap and then wrapped a sheet over it and the cot mattress to prevent little fingers pulling out pieces of foam!

I found a few websites for you:
Sidecar Your Crib
Purple Puzzle Place: Sidecar Crib
How we sidecarred our crib - Home

I wish I would have known you can do this, we could have skipped the co-sleeper altogether

Sorry for your string of bad luck For some reason when it rains it always pours, ya know?? *HUGS*
I don't have any pictures (my camera batteries are dead and I'm too lazy to charge them). But we have the mattress on the lowest setting and we use the bumper to put on the far side of the crib mattress so there isn't a huge gap between beds. Right now my 4 year old sleeps in the crib and the baby sleep next to me. It really does give your bed a lot more room. I tried to put it back together and it just felt SO cramped in the bed so we put it back.

I am soooo going to do this. I just called my sister and asked to borrow her crib. She isn't due till late August so I am going to test it out. If it works I am just going to buy another crib. I don't want to take down the one in his room. I spent so much time, money and energy on his room. I love just going in there with him and cuddling.

I am excited about trying it... We all need to get better sleep than we have been lately.

Okay, you lit a fire under my arse to sidecar our crib again. I tried it with dd about 6 months ago but she wasn't having it, so the crib went back to being our all-purpose storage container. Soooo, I cleared it out, took the bars off of one side and... well, I'll let the picture speak for itself:

I'm so jealous! I love our cosleeper, but with this, I could literally scooch over, nurse her, then return to the bed and keep our seperate sleeping spaces. I love to sprawl when I sleep

this was in the flat, but its the same now though the mattress is level with the cot now its just brilliant.

we use a fat pool noodle to fill the gap with and cable ties to attach the cot to the bed so nothing moves. i looove it! everyone should do it lol
