For my newborn I LOVED the moby wrap. The baby might fuss a little at first but after a little while always quieted down/fell asleep.

Right now though that she is just a bit bigger, I am loving my baby hawk. Super easy to put on, and has head support for her.

It's confusing at first because there are hundreds of GOOD carriers you'll find on their forums! There's even a review section for carrier brands.

What carriers have you tried before? Are you wanting a two shoulder carry, one shoulder, buckles or no buckles, or just one carrier that will work great for newborn through toddlerhood?

I love my ergo too! I got it when my daughter was 4 months old and she still likes being in it at 16 months. Some stores might have carriers you can sample on as well.

wel i'm 4'7" and a bit overweight so i find most carriers too bulky too big or hang really low so far i have the peanut shell way too tight for me, zoloring sling baby my son fussed in it and just screamed so i then went to a really bad carrier the snuglli now we both seem to have enjoyed that one but it didn't last since the weight for it ws 26 pounds and by 4 months my son was 22 so had to give that one up too fast and my last ditch effort was the moby which i found a bit confusing but i didn't feel like baby was secure he hanged really low and i flt too loose in it so i'm now thinking ergo, or beco and maybe a woven wrap but would rather get a ssc instead of a wrap and i need this carrier from newborn to toddler

sorry i'm late reponding i didn't see this for awhile

For a newborn to toddler carrier with two shoulder support, you pretty much want a woven. Mei tais would work too, but you'd want to find one with extra long straps so you could tie in a variety of ways. My Beanslings MT has 84" straps which is too long for me, but perfect for a fluffier mama (straps are on average 72"). Any good SSC that works for newborns doesn't work well for toddlers and vice versa IMO. Newborns are just so tiny and have no control over their core and neck, so they need close good support which a bigger SSC just can't give if it's to work with a larger baby. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Bamberoo SSC, but even the baby sized version of the carrier isn't recommended to be used until 4 months. I've heard of some people having luck with a KinderPack infant adjustable with bigger sized newborns, but the carrier is definitely outgrown by 18 months (most people choose to size up at 12 months).
While wrapping with a woven isn't the easiest to pick up on quickly, once you do you'll love it. I just started wrapping regularly with a woven a month ago and I'm really enjoying the journey! I've almost mastered a couple of back carries and have had no issues with the front carries I've tried. A woven is just so versatile and comfortable!

Don't let a Moby fool you about wraps. I was not overly fond of the Moby and thought it was waaaaayyyy too long and now that I have a long woven wraps it seems completely different to me from the Moby. And yeah, Moby is a poor carrier by 20 pounds. I thought it sagged too much after 15 pounds.
