I have gotten together with her 3 times over the past 2 weeks, and every time he cried and fussed almost the entire time. (he is 3.5 months now).

Now, it could have been that he was having a bad day(s), but it solidified in my head even more that I need to continue on with things as they are and NOT do that to my own child, no matter how tired I feel.

I didn't even know CIO was recommended for a 10 week old. That is less than 3 months old! Disgusting!

I was chatting with a "friend" (more of a person who hangs around the same people I do) about my child's horrible sleep habits of late and she "recommended" I let him cry for AT LEAST 10 minutes before comforting him. She "did it with DD at 3 months and with DS at 6 weeks and they learned really quickly to sleep good." She added, much to my horror, that DS took "a harder hand" to sleep train.

REALLY? I wonder if she considered he was only 6 weeks.

I almost cried right in front of her.

I notice the same with kids that CIO. My son doesnt cry unless he needs boob or is tired. My friends kid just cries to cry. Her mom doesnt CIO but her dad does when mom is not home.

My boyfriends uncle also did CIO at 6 weeks with their son and say it worked... the baby is now 13 months old and wakes up 6-8 times a night!!! Uhh.. doesnt sound like it worked to me.

Wow. I can't believe people let newborns (essentially) CIO. I always thought those who are pro-CIO don't recommend it until at least 6 months of age.

I will never understand the mind set of those who CIO, I mean WHY have a baby at all if you don't want your sleep patterns to change? Doesn't make sense to me.
