How do you feel about piercing a babies ears? I posted this in my PR also, but was interested to see what you ladies thought. Also you BTDT mommas might have some experience with ear piercing already.
Do you plan (or have already) to pierce your LO's ears? If yes, when?

I dont have a daughter but if I did I would wait til she was old enough to make that choice. I got mine done at 7 or 8. I asked my parents and they said yes and took me as a reward for good grades I'd probably do the same

My parents didn't let me do it until I was 12 and I probably will insist on waiting at least that long with Juliana. I let mine close up though and have no interest in wearing earrings so she may just end up being like me and not even want to have pierced ears.

I'm not a fan for 2 reasons. 1, it's her body and I want her to decide she wants them, and when. I remember getting mine done, it was a special day with my mom. 2, I find it detracting from a baby's natural beauty. All I see are earrings, instead of adorable baby.
My DD is just 2 and I don't think she has ever even noticed mine. Hoping to get a few more years in before she wants hers done!

I will let DD decide when she wants it done. I know some adults who were happy they never had their ears pierced. I would not want to make that decision for my DD.

I also want to wait until Maddie is a little older and decides she wants to get them pierced. I was about 10 when I got mine pierced, and I want her to be responsible with them and be able to take care of them.
A friend of ours just got her daughter's (who is 2 weeks younger than Maddie) pierced and I just can't imagine doing Maddie's right now. I don't want to do something that would hurt her or make her cry just for appearance sake I am also afraid of when she gets into that toddler/preschool stage that they will get caught in something. I have seen it happen to kids before and it worries me.

Like many of the others, I will wait until she asks and can take care of them herself. I remember getting mine done and being so excited!

This. Her body, her choice, IMO.

^This, exactly. I was also 12 and let mine close up. I think we will wait until around the same age for Evelyn, give or take a year (and of course ultimately it will be her choice).

If this baby is a girl, we will wait until she is old enough to make up her own mind. I don't believe in altering a baby's body in any way.

My daughter is 17 months and people have been asking me when I am getting her ears pierced. This started probably when she was a few weeks old :/ Its probably a cultural thing. I totally see no point whatsoever in piercing her ears now. When she wants it we can get it done, maybe....lol

I waited until my girl was old enough to care for the piercings herself, 5 years old. Since then she has decided she no longer cares for pierced ears and will not wear earrings (she's 10). I guess when she's about 14 she might want them re-pierced. We'll see.

I will wait until my daughter can decide for herself. She is 4 and up to this point has never shown any interest in ear piercing.

I do not have a daughter. To me the main pros and cons are as follows:
Pro: She won't remember the pain of having them pierced.
Cons: She wont' be able to decide for herself, and there is a chance that they could become uneven as her little ears grow. A friend of mine had to let hers close up and re-pierce them because her ears grew unevenly, so the earrings looked crooked.

Guess I'm in the minority, but if I had a daughter I'd get them done as soon as possible(few months old).
I can't think of a reason not to. If she doesn't want to wear earrings when she's older, that's her choice. Having holes without earrings is no big deal. Also the risk of infection is often lower when you get ears pierced sooner.
