Are there any family traditions that you want to pass on and continue in your family that you had growing up?

It could be a simple as Monday Spagetti Night or as elaborate as a week long family camping trip each summer.

Nope, I'm not sure if my family even had any traditions.
My husband's tried to implement some from him growing up, but nothing's really stuck.

We have tons of traditions... tons...

Most are holiday related. The most important one we have is spaghetti. My mom's Sicilian and, in our family, the men cook homemade spaghetti sauce and braciole for Christmas (we used to do it for Easter too, but we haven't the past few years). It takes 3 days to cook and only the men know the recipe. I'm really excited I had a son who will be able to help dad and grandpa in the kitchen when he gets older.

Oh goodness...too many to list. My favorites:

*You get to pick the supper menu on your Birthday
*Making tons of p-nut brittle at Christmas time to give to friends/family
*Sugar cookies on many holidays (Easter, Valentine's Day, Christmas, etc)

My dad made pancakes every Sunday and grilled on the 4th of July. That was the only time he ever cooked. We are continuing that tradition, except DH grills a little more often.

Yes we do.

~ The weekend after Thanksgiving the whole family on DH's side gets together and make hand made Ravioli. Everything is made from scratch, the noodles, sauce, the filling. The recipe is a secret and only those in the family can know. If you're a woman marrying a man in the family you will get the recipe after 2 years of marriage. I will be allowed to pass down the recipe to my kids once they are 18 years old.

~ We also do the La Befana during Christmas time as well (but my kids know she isn't real). She is an Italian Christmas Witch, a good witch.

There are more that aren't Holiday related as well. Like game night and other things.

We do family get-togethers on thanksgiving and the fourth of July. We have tons of traditions surrounding those events and I plan to get my sons in on the traditions. None of them involve food, but things like walks, sleeping arrangements, and games.

On christmas eve we go out to dinner and get new pajamas to sleep in.

We never get out of our Jammie's on Christmas day...or go anywhere.

There are more, but those are a start!

We also get to pick whats for dinner on our birthday. I will def do that with Drake.

Also, on Xmas Eve we always got new pj's from "Santa". My brothers and I (I am the only girl with 3 brothers) would be sitting in the living room or something like that and we would hear the doorbell ring and my mom would say "Who's that?!" all excited and we would run to the door, and on the stoop there would be presents for us, brand new pj's. And as soon as they came we KNEW it was time for bed. I LOVED that!!

There are really no other traditions that will be passed over. DH and I plan to make our own.

Our traditions are holiday related and they don't happen every year as much as we try. We have managed to at least do PJs on Christmas Eve for 3 years running now!

Our main family tradition for the 3 of us is survival. Survive yet another move. Survive yet another TDY where DH is gone. Survive what is starting to feel like DH's never ending training. We're not always together for holidays or even every Sunday. We don't always know where we'll be living in a 6 months, let alone a year, to plan out trips.

Our traditions are mostly holiday related as well. These are the ones I want to keep up with my kids.

- Always do an easter egg hunt on easter, followed by egg salad sandwiches
- On christmas, we always set our our gifts on our bed, and when our aunts, uncles, etc arrived we always took them to show them what santa brought us
- Choosing supper on your birthday is one too
- I want to do a family game night
- I would love to have Sunday dinner with grandma and grandpa every sunday
