Today I took Juliana to Disney World. She is nursing constantly and a 21 months she looks like she is at least 2. I was worried about the looks and comments I might get.
We were in line for Dumbo and she asked to nurse and when I tried to distract her she started screaming "Milk! Milk!" so I had an audience from the start. I went ahead and whipped out my boob and nursed her right there, all 30 pounds of her. One group in particular was staring at me and I was mentally preparing a sarcastic remark in response to what I expected to be a mean comment. Instead, a woman with a small baby said "I can't begin to tell you how inspiring you are." I was not prepared for that at all and barely managed to stammer a thank you. That has warmed my heart all day. I kept repeating the words over and over in my head because I just didn't couldn't believe I got such a positive reaction. I guess I did my little part to normalize NIP.
