My DF is not a reader, can't stand books or even articles and doesn't much have the time for them. Are there any documentary's or videos about positive or gentle discipline that would at least give him some basics that we could work from? I don't know how to explain it to him at all and he doesn't understand it yet.

I can't think of any specific videos, but what about books on CD? You could listen to them while you're in the car. That's how I finally got my DH to listen to the Love and Logic tapes -- while you're driving there's no escape possible!
Thank you to the SSMC makers for my beautiful siggies!

Do you have friends who practice positive discipline? I had been trying to explain how I wanted to discipline when Claire was still a baby and DH just didn't know how it could work (we both came from very traditional households). I met a friend who practices gentle discipline, and her DH was also great with their kids. I asked if we could spend a day with their family so DH could see how positively their kids responded and how it worked for them, and that REALLY opened his eyes.
