Well my dad's family is german. Like speak german, came from Germany my dad was born in america though. My grandfather spoke mostly german he was sooo hard to understand lol. My mom's family is American Indian (blackfoot to be exact).
My dads family is polish (his mom, his dad is an "English mutt") and my moms family is German on both sides. We have some polish traditions. But not enough for me to strongly identify with it. Or any nationality, really!
I figure I'm more 'Canadian' than anything else... the closest ties I have to any other country is Irish. Followed by some distant French, and German (or Russian) it's not quite clear because it seems that some of my mom's side would lie based on what was politically convenient re. their heritage.
Dh is strongly tied into his Icelandic roots... Our back up baby boy name is Scandinavian! I'm a little jealous of his families close connection of where they came from. I would have liked to have that!
