Not all books advocating CIO encourage you to check on and reassure your child. Yes, I agree that most do, in fact I only know of one that encourages you to not do this. That would be the EZZO books. These books frighten me like not many things do. I've known many people who use this method and it absolutely infuriates me. I've read research on them that has said the next day parents have found children laying in vomit because they cried themselves to sleep so hard they threw up and then finally fell asleep in it. How does that teach them anything good???? Don't get me started, sorry, but anti-CIO is my passion! I get pretty fired up about it.
