this is really interesting - TFS! I think they're focused on what we commonly call chemical pregnancies based on their reference:

"When poorer embryos are allowed to implant, they may last long enough in cases of recurrent miscarriage to give a positive pregnancy test."
I think current thinking is that recurrent chemical pregnancies are likely attributable to insufficient progesterone & consequently uterine lining that is too thin to sustain a pregnancy. This is a really interesting potential explanation for the women who suffer multiple chemical pregnancies, it would be great if this led to a treatment to help avoid them.
