I hate to see other countries view Americans this way. I sometimes wonder if all my old friends in Italy who use to love America and the Americans so much now think we are nothing but a bunch of dumb #####es!! It's sad really!

I too sometimes feel ashamed to be an American because of this. Other countries hate us, and it really wasn't anything I myself did! When will it end!?!?

My favorite part:
Quote:
The British tabloid Daily Mirror summed up the feelings of many of its disappointed readers in a blunt front-page headline, “How can 59,054,087 people be so DUMB?”

A feeling shared, I would guess, by many Americans who voted for Kerry.[/b]

I have a few quotes that sum up my feelings...

"The love of one's country is a splendid thing. But why should love stop at the border?"~Pablo Casals

"My country is the world, and my religion is to do good."~Thomas Paine

"The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government."~Thomas Jefferson

"When will our consciences grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it?"~Eleanor Roosevelt

"Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount."~Omar N. Bradley

"Moral cowardice that keeps us from speaking our minds is as dangerous to this country as irresponsible talk. The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character."~Margaret Chase Smith
