Ok - I will be the first to look like a dork....some of my silly fears...

I wear long johns (thermal leggings) a lot (I am a very cold person & Michigan gets pretty chilly) & every so often, on my way to work I have a panic moment & reach down to make sure I put pants on. I have NEVER accidentally gone out with only long johns on, but I don't get dressed until right before I leave (I wear suits a lot & have kitties that love to leave a million hairs as they drag their tails across me as I get ready) - so I spend my mornings running around in long underwear & have some silly fear that in the rush, I'll forget my pants.

I also have another - but it's a little sad My father had a female cousin close in age & their family used to come over a lot as a child. She had a bad heart & was quite overweight. When I was about 9-10 she passed in childbirth, with a baby her Dr. had told her he could not carry & so she had kept it secret & told NO ONE, not even her children or husband. I think because of the shock of ALL of it - I have since had a fear of childbirth for ANYONE. It makes me very nervous. I am ok - up until the labor part & then I am a worried mess. It is irrational because of the fact that her Dr had told her she couldn't make it through this, so she got no prenatal care, and she was older, had a bad heart, was very overweight (obviously since even her hubby didn't know) - so - it IS unreasonable that I would feel fear for my sis - at 28, in great physical shape... but I did then * today I still do - I get scared whenever ANYONE goes into labor - regardless. I am working on that one. If I ever make it that far for myself - I wonder what I'll be like Somehow that seems different to me - I'm not sure why..I used to feel different for myself, but that has changed for some reason.

I get the long underwear thing because of the feeling of wearing them rings close to me!

I've always been over the top on the idea of being a good mom.. I worry about it constantly and it's stopped me from having kids... In my mind, I'd rather not have kids then to screw them at all. I'm beginning to feel more peace about it.. I know I'll screw up my kids, maybe just not too bad - you know, less years of therapy.

For all my life I've been so scared of Great White sharks that I couldn't have a bath. I would start having panic attacks if I seen pictures... I decided to face my fear and started scubadiving but I have yet to meet a GWS.

I am terrified of spiders. It's so bad. I won't go into our sheds, laundry room, and unfinished bedrooms in our house because I've seen spiders in them all.
I scream and cry if I see one or if I think I will see one. It's a stupid but debilitating fear.
I can't unpack our boxes because some of them spiders have gone into....
Ugh, I hate it but spiders are horrible nasty creatures. We get the big black ones too.
And one of them, I have seen come back to life after laying dead for days! Creepy.

Mine is so silly! I have a fear of stepping on a razor while in the shower!!

Also on my apartment balcony we have this netting up to stop pigeons from coming in. I am scared that if we take it down I might fall off the balcony! The netting wouldnt hold me if i ever fell anyway! It just makes me feel better living 20 floors up by being there lol

I have a irrational fear of the dentist. I need to be tranquillized just for a cleaning, anything more than that I need to be sedated. Thank God my kids all love their dentist and have absolutely no fear of her. It's surprising, considering that they are aware of my fear, even though I tried to hide it from them.

I am clostraphobic...bad. I hate elevators and closed in spaces without windows. I also hate being restrained, I have to have complete control. My DH is public saftey at the hospital here and he has handcuffs that he uses. Well, I wanted him to handcuff me to see what it felt like and he got one cuff on and I started screaming crying...I couldn't take it. He had to run and get the key to unlock me, he didn't know what was going on.

I have a fear of death and dying... Sometimes, I think this fear feeds my insomnia...

I think I fear it so much because no one REALLY knows what happens when we die... and I don't like not knowing something as serious as that.

Snakes and spiders... I hate them both!!!!

When Emily was born, I was terrified she was going to die of SIDS. I was out of control with fear and worry.

I also, worry that they (my kids) are going to wander out of the house and I wont know it.

That's so funny Michelle! I totally have a fear of Great Whites! So much that when I swam as a child I would get scared even though I love to swim. I actually find them fasinating too. I love watching nature shows about them , but when I go to bed I have nightmares.

I also have a fear of the ocean. I have this nagging fear that I will die at the bottom of the ocean. If not eaten by a shark I will drown or die inside a boat. I don't know why I have this fear since I don't live anywhere near the ocean. Also the tsunamis scare me. With my fear of the ocean I had many dreams that tsunamis killed me. I saw the wall of water and that was the end and then I woke up!

You know what? I think we're the normal ones! I watch those shows too - I always tell people you have understand them in order to live! Hopefully I'll never have to try to excerise anything though!

That wall of water is the scariest thing for sure... I always think of the undertow, the feelings of being dragged under with no hope for the surface... ok I'll quit now I have goosebumps!

This is fun - I see you girls all the time but I don't think we really know anything about eacht other!

(Well, I'm sure by now you all must know I can't spell or I need to edit all the time!)

You know, I used to be terrified of drowning, I thought it would be the worst way to go. Then I seriously almost drowned and I wasn't scared, I was calm and even prayed while it was happening. I don't even remember like a suffocating feeling. It was weird.
Of course after that rafting accident I was terrified of rivers and rafting, still a little afraid of rafting but rivers no longer scare me. I love to swim and am a strong swimmer. But I don't fear drowning anymore.
But when I do swim in lakes, I am terrified of touching and swimming over the seaweed as well as dead trees and logs under the water! It freaks me out soooo bad!

My biggest fear is that someone will break into my house at night and try to hurt or kill my husband and I. Totally irrational, I know, but I worry about it all the time. The problem that I have is that our bedroom is upstairs, and there really is no escaping, unless I want to jump out the window and break my neck, if someone did break in.
I also fear car accidents. I have had several friends since high school that have died in car accidents, and I'm just affraid it could happen to my husband or I.

Please don't laugh, my fear is of flying. It's funny because DH is a pilot and I didn't have that fear until after I had met him. I think most of it is because I now know all the scary parts of flying (like take off and landing is the most dangerous part of flying) and it just makes me shutter. But, as soon as he climbs on board I'm instantly relieved.

Another weird fear is thunderstorms. I'm from North Dakota and when I moved to Texas I had never seen storms like that before. There is no such thing as the nice romantic distant thunderstorm where you sit and rock on the front porch. If you can hear thunder here you can be sure that somewhere there is lightening hitting the ground and it's probably coming towards you.

Ditto this. I don't like not being in control in any situations. My fear of elevators is so bad that while in labor with my first 2 children I walked up the 7 flights of stairs in labor to the L&D unit. With my 3rd pregnancy (my twins) I walked up those same stairs to my scheduled c-section. That was the hardest (I was in severe pain at 38 weeks pregnant with twins)

I also am very afraid of the dark, no idea why. I cannot ride in a car with another person driving, other than my mother or my husband, again, no idea why. Due to my fear of windowless, small rooms going into public bathrooms is difficult for me, especially ones that are just one room (not stalls) because I fear the lock will malfunction and I will get stuck in the small windowless room. I also fear flying, though I have never flown, and I never will. I fear going to new places, especially the drive there (I think this stems from growing up a military brat and always being afraid every time we moved to a new place).

I am pretty much afraid of everything. I have severe panic attacks and anxiety.

Hey ladies. I don't post down here often... i forget their is more... But I saw this post and decided to jump in!!
First of all, i have a fear of being choked, I cannot stand for anyone to put their hands around my neck, even my three year old... don't know why, maybe I was killed that way in my past life.

Second, I have a total fear of being drowned. When DF and I first started dating we were in a pool at his moms, and he tried to lay me back in the water, I about flipped!!! I know where that one comes from though!! I have almost drowned three times in childhood.... 1st time, i was about two, mom was in the lake, dad was supposed to be watching me, he went to pee behind a bush and I wandered into the water to find my mom. By the time she got to me I was floating face down.... 2nd time, I was about 9, couldn't really swim but I was sitting on the side of the deep end of the public pool, my older cousin thought she was funny, came over and picked me up and through me into the middle..... gasping for air my other cousin finally realized and saved me. 3rd time, I was about 12 and my little sister, about 8 at the time wanted to go out to the raft with me, it was only a little over my head, but with her on my shoulders, I couldn't make it, and started to drown. She was yelling for the lifeguard, but they didn't hear her... i somehow managed to get myself out of that one!!!

Thirdly.... I have an immense fear that someone is going to come in my house while i am sleeping and kidnap my children! We live in a good neighborhood, in low crime area, but this keeps me up at night. If i hear a noise, even if i tell myself it is the cat, I have to get up and check on both of my children!!! I hardly ever sleep through the night, because my cat plays all the time, and I think it is someone coming in to take my kids!!!!

OK, am I nuts!!!

They are remaking a horror film I recommend you don't see! (Something about a babysitter being terrorized by someone in the house that took the kids...)

I also have a fear of leaving the oven on at night and burning the house down. I check it like twice a night and before leaving the house every morning. (along with my rollers and blow dryer)

I'm a proud arachnophobic. Can't even see a picture of a spider without shivering.
I'm not very fond of airplanes, either. I can get on one, but I'm pretty jumpy all the way.

I have this strange fear of ANYONE touching me while I am in the water. I have no idea why. And if someone splashes even a few drops on my face... it's like I can't breathe!!! I'm doing better and trying to get over that... but sometimes it's hard. I will hardly let my brother even get near me in the water... cause he is just mean.. LOL....

Plus, I have always had this stupid fear, that if I stood close to an edge of a cliff.. or roof top or something.. that my body would not listen to me when I told it not to jump!!! It's weird... it's almost like my body is telling me..."you are going to fall anyway... so just get it over with!!!" Needless to say... I don't get near cliffs very much! Or if I do... i crawl up to them on my belly like an alligator.. LOL!!!!!
