Plastic Surgery: whatever floats your boat but dont think you NEED it, its a want, not a need

Sex education
Parents and school.
Vaccinations
Against
Sin Tax
against
legalization of marijuana
I think I'm for it.
Universal Health care
yes
"performance pay" for teachers
Not really sure what this is, but if it's literally what the title says then no, I'm against that.
war
It happens. LOL!
Methods of birth control
I don't like anything hormonal. I think all these hormonal BC that we have is one of the leading causes of infertility, endometriosis/ PCOS
How many kids people should have
Enough that they can all properly be cared for, emotionally, physically, time-wise w/ parents. No parentification.
Vegetarian/eating meat
I switch it up between going vegan, veggie and meat.
gun control
Nah, I like my gun.
death penalty
Only for individuals in prison for life and keep being sent to supermax who are still violent and commit crimes for the one hour they are out of supermax. They are already serving the worst punishment of 23hr lockup, the only other way to control them is death.
Kids drinking soda/eating candy/poptarts for breakfast
Obviously not the best idea but I don't fault people for occasional slip ups.
Peanut Butter bans in schools for nut allergies
I'm not against it, but I think if my child was that allergic it would be my responsibility to make sure my child is safe and homeschool/get a tutor.
VBACs
For
Government involvement in citizens lives
IDK, I guess it depends...
Seat Belt law/ laws to protect citizens from themselves
Undecided.
Unassisted Childbirthing
For as long as you actually know what you're doing, have percautions set in place etc..
Plastic Surgery
I don't care really.
Chili (with or without beans)
WITH! lol
Welfare
It's necessary.
dress codes for school/office
It's needed.
Elective C-sections/elective repeat C-Sections

Fine by me.
Leash backpacks for kids
Very handy for circus, zoo, water parks... you get the idea.. w/ multiple kids.
Beauty pageants
No.
TV watching for kids under age 2
I'm not that concerned.
Gay marriage
Let them do what they want. I don't see how it hurts anyone.
Universal pre-k
? As in making it mandatory? I think it should be available as an option but not mandatory.
Sex education
Important. Should be taught in school. I guess if parents want to opt out for religious reasons and have their child miss that class they should be given that option though.
Vaccinations
I think they're important but I don't see the logic behind injecting a tiny body with so many toxins when it's too young to even digest solid food. Selective, delayed vaxing here.
Sin Tax
Why not...
legalization of marijuana
Not sure
Universal Health care
Good idea in theory.
"performance pay" for teachers
It sounds like a good idea to pay better teachers a higher salary but I don't know much about it. I'm sure there are other factors that affect test scores than just the teacher's abilities.
war
I hate the idea but sometimes it's necessary I guess.
Methods of birth control
Rhythm method "Pull and Pray"er here but to each their own.
How many kids people should have
Not so many that they can't provide financially and give each child the attention they need. And not so many the older kids are raising the younger kids.
Vegetarian/eating meat
Meat eater here but I don't care what's on your plate.
gun control
It seems like I read that countries with gun control had a lower crime rate.... I'll have to look that up again...
death penalty
I think if the crime is something he'd spend life in prison for without possibility of parole and there's DNA evidence or several witnesses proving that he did it with zero question, then for.
circumcision
I thought I was FOR circ'ing until I was carrying a boy. I just couldn't hand my brand new baby over to have the most sensitive part of his body cut with no anisthesia for no medical reason. We have no religious reason to do it so we'd only be doing it for what it looks like and I think weighing whether the look justifies the decrease in feeling is a decision HE should be allowed to make. But I don't care what others do. ... Actually I do care a little. I'm kinda glad it's on the down swing so he won't be odd in the locker room.
Fertility treatments/Assisted reproduction
For. If this helps a couple have a child, why not?
Assisted suicide
For. If it's beyond any doubt what that person really wants. I think legalizing this would lead to "assisted suicides" for inheritance though.
Illegal Immigrants *not immigration POLICY
I sympathize but they need to do it legally. If I wanted to move to New Zealand I would have to do the same.
Gender Selection
It seems really shallow and I don't think it necessary in the US but in other countries where baby girls are aborted, perhaps allowing gender selection would be a good thing.
Fat Tax
Sure. Why not?
Shopping Carts
I'm not leaving my two toddlers alone in the car to walk the cart back. Sorry.
Kids drinking soda/eating candy/poptarts for breakfast
Not great but not exactly poison.
Peanut Butter bans in schools for nut allergies
For. Some kids have a reaction if they just smell peanut butter. I think that child's right to a public education is more important than my child's right to a reeses cup.
VBACs
For if the mother is educated about the risks.
Government involvement in citizens lives
It would depend I guess.
Seat Belt law/ laws to protect citizens from themselves
For.
Unassisted Childbirthing
If the mother knows the risks it's her decision.
Plastic Surgery
Individual choice.
Chili (with or without beans)
WITH! lol Why would you want to just eat seasoned beef with a spoon??
Welfare
It's needed but I think it should be limitted to 5 years. In 5 years the child you weren't expecting would be in school. In 5 years you could have a degree. 5 years should be plenty of time for your case worker to help you get on your feet.
dress codes for school/office
Sure.
Elective C-sections/elective repeat C-Sections
I personally think it's an unnecessary risk but I'm not a doctor.
Introducing solids
6 months +
Car Seats
My 25 pound 17 month old still rides rear facing. Extended rear facing and extended harnessing here. I think if they've found that this is significantly safer then they should change the legal limits.
Spanking
I think time outs work better but as long as you're not abusing your child, it's not my business.
Children and Pets
I have two toddlers and the last thing I want is something else that eats and poops. But if you do, great.
Nursing in Public
Should be allowed.
Cry it Out
Never before 6 months. After that it depends on the child.
Television and Infants/Toddlers
My daughter learned her letters at 16 months because of a DVD. If you put on the right ones, they can be great.
Caring for your elderly parents
Whatever works for each family.
Diamonds
Love
In-N-Out Burger
Quite possibly the best and least expensive fast food joint EVER
Reborn dolls
Creep me out
Homosexual orientation/relationships
Whatever tickles your pickle.
Polyamory
Not for me, but if all are consenting adults, who cares.
Scary movies
Love em.
Transcultural adoption
Personal choice. I don't see it as a problem.
Drug testing welfare recipients
Yes. Welfare is so often abused. If you have money for drugs you have money for food.
"Luxuries" on welfare- vacation, designer accessories, upscale phones, TV w/cable, etc
The money spent on those things could be spent on necessities and you can get off welfare. So I guess against.
Organized religions
Not my thing but I don't care if you on sunday.
Mandatory breastfeeding attempts/prescriptions for formula
No
Family beds
We did this. Whatever works.
TTC on assistance
Why would you have another if you can't make ends meet right now?
Infants/toddlers in bikini style swim suits
Not my daughter but you go for it.
Leash backpacks for kids
Jordana loves hers.
Beauty pageants
Not for kids.
TV watching for kids under age 2
It depends on what they're watching.

Where it says "fat tax" and I said I was for it, I misread it. I was thinking "fair tax." lol ooops. I don't think I'm in favor of fat tax, I want fair tax.
I am sorry I am a little late on this, I was on vacation for 7 days, and could only get on here from my phone...so it was hard to copy and paste....

VBACs Not sure I would ever do it..but for it
Government involvement in citizens lives against..depends on the situation
Seat Belt law/ laws to protect citizens from themselves For
Unassisted Childbirthing Not for me..

Introducing solids Around 4 months or so...
Car Seats for...and try to keep rear facing past a year
Spanking Other means to get the message across
Children and Pets fine if supervised
Nursing in Public I would never do it..but if someone wants to and is covered up without having a breast exposed, then I don't mind
Cry it Out Depends on how you define cry it out
Television and Infants/Toddlers for it, with rules of course
Caring for your elderly parents ....not sure...I think having them in a nice retirement community would be best! Don't know if I could stand living with other people other than my husband and kids..lol
Diamonds LOVE
Homosexual orientation/relationships Their choice
Scary movies Hate them!
Drug testing welfare recipients Good idea
"Luxuries" on welfare- vacation, designer accessories, upscale phones, TV w/cable, etc against
Organized religions for
Mandatory breastfeeding attempts/prescriptions for formula against
Family beds meaning having the child sleep in the same bed? I don't see any problem with co-sleeping
TTC on assistance assistance ..meaning welfare? then I think its crazy if they do..but who would be able to stop them??
Infants/toddlers in bikini style swim suits as long as it covers them properly, then I don't see a problem..
Leash backpacks for kids not against, tried it once and felt weird..
Beauty pageants love them, if I had a daughter, probably would do it, but I am against the crazy show moms and the crazy amount of makeup..I would onl do natural pagents...
Political stance - Liberal, unaffiliated.
Selective Service - Voluntary
Gay marriage - Very decidedly FOR.
Universal pre-k - I have no idea what this is. Oops.
Sex education - For, as long as it's actual education and not just "abstinence FTW"
Vaccinations - Pro
Sin Tax - Whatev
legalization of marijuana - Pro
Universal Health care - Noncommittal at this point
"performance pay" for teachers - Positive reinforcement is good
war - Send the world's leaders back to Kindergarten so they can learn sharing and equality
Methods of birth control - Pro. Whatever works!
How many kids people should have - Not my decision to make
Vegetarian/eating meat - Meatatarian here. Veggies are also good.
gun control - "Gun Education" might be a better way to phrase my opinion. Pro.
death penalty - Noncommittal. Can see both sides.
circumcision - Anti, but I understand religious reasons
Fertility treatments/Assisted reproduction - make me happy. Pro.
Assisted suicide - Pro
Illegal Immigrants *not immigration POLICY - the ones I've met seem nice. Pro-human, I guess
Gender Selection - Tempting, but no.
Fat Tax - Basic idea is good. Pro, I guess
Shopping Carts - Are wicked handy in the grocery store. Put 'em away when you're done though.
Kids drinking soda/eating candy/poptarts for breakfast - Irresponsible, unless you have a once-a-month junkathon or something along those lines
Peanut Butter bans in schools for nut allergies - Understandable but annoying
VBACs - Pro Pro SUPER Pro, future VBAC hopeful.
Government involvement in citizens lives - Depends on level of involvement
Seat Belt law/ laws to protect citizens from themselves - Pro, but feel there should be an age limit to the law.
Unassisted Childbirthing - AWESOME. Scary for me. But AWESOME.
Plastic Surgery - Ehhhh... I don't have a problem with it.
Chili (with or without beans) - MUST have beans.
Welfare - gets abused far too often. Not enough oversight to be successful, I'll say.
dress codes for school/office - I don't want to see my boss in a g-string. Ew.
Elective C-sections/elective repeat C-Sections - make me sad, but everyone has their reasons
Introducing solids - around 6 months
Car Seats - ERF, EH, proper education of parents is essential
Spanking - is not a crime
Children and Pets - choose wisely. A toddler and a goldfish = not the best combination
Nursing in Public - WOOOHOOOO! Don't see it enough around here
Cry it Out - For... ISH. Hate debating it.
Television and Infants/Toddlers - A little TV very likely won't kill the child.
Caring for your elderly parents - ...PRO?! I'm not gonna let them rot on the street if I can help it...
Diamonds - are too expensive to wear as daily jewelry
In-N-Out Burger - thought it was a made-up place until recently
Reborn dolls - beyond creepy.
Homosexual orientation/relationships - Born. Not made. Love whichever gender you choose.
Polyamory - Pro.
Scary movies - .Pro? They usually make me laugh
Transcultural adoption - Love is love.
Drug testing welfare recipients - Eeeehhhh... Noncommittal. I think it's a good idea and a bad idea at the same time.
"Luxuries" on welfare- vacation, designer accessories, upscale phones, TV w/cable, etc - Basic cable, whatev. HBO/Starz/SHO package on a cruise to the Bahamas, HECK no.
Organized religions - Sometimes make me really angry, but people are free to believe whatever they wish
Mandatory breastfeeding attempts/prescriptions for formula - Mandatory breastfeeding: NO. Formula prescriptions: conditionally YES.
Family beds - if you're comfortable and safe...
TTC on assistance - Noncommittal but leaning towards no
Infants/toddlers in bikini style swim suits - you'll never catch one on my toddler
Leash backpacks for kids - Pro... Nicer choice than a choke collar anyway
Beauty pageants - For kids? Sad.
TV watching for kids under age 2 - I don't have a problem with it
Abortion Pro-choice. Often a very sensible choice. Should be available without restriction.
Drinking age Absurdly and unnecessarily high
Political stance tends to lean liberal with a strong social libertarian streak
Selective Service Makes me uneasy, but I don't practically see a better solution. If our government chose their wars and foreign policy choices more wisely, I'd be more ok with it.
Gay marriage No logical or good reason to ban it. Should be indistinguishable, legally, from straight marriage
Universal pre-k Can be useful to lessen the gap between the classes, but it's got to be done correctly, or it could be absolutely disastrous.
Sex education Should be fully available and optional in all districts. Abstinence only is a bunch of garbage.
Vaccinations Not one iota of valid and well reviewed science has shown vaccines to carry an unacceptable level of risk. I vaccinate confidently.
Sin Tax The only acceptable reason for taxation is to raise revenue, not influence behavior. Against.
legalization of marijuana End the whole **** War On Drugs as far as I am concerned. Marijuana especially should be legalized. It's inconsistent and silly that it's not.
Universal Health care "For profit" health care incentives waste and ineffective care. The fact that we persist with our current model and turn a blind eye to the poor's suffering is America's greatest shame. Health Care was the 100% largest voting issue for me in the last election.
"performance pay" for teachers I'm not informed enough on this issue to have an opinion.
war "What is it good for? Absolutely nothing! Say it again!" Seriously, they're sometimes unavoidable but mostly huge wastes of resources and lives
Methods of birth control I don't care. That's for other people to decide.
How many kids people should have It's none of my business how many others should have, really, but there is a point where I think having a bunch is a **** fool's errand
Vegetarian/eating meat I think the price of meat is artificially lowered by sacrificing the humane treatment of the animals and the safety of the workers, but It's clear to me that we're biologically herbivores and the eating of humanely treated animals is as morally neutral as a lion making it's kill. We eat very little meat in this house because I only get it if it's from the local market. We do not eat lamb or veal. I cannot be arsed to care whether or not others eat meat.
gun control Against against against. It's an idiot issue for the democrats to push. A government should not restrict technology from it's citizens.
death penalty Expensive, ineffective, and unevenly applied. Should be stopped.
circumcision I personally don't, but think it's not so important to demonize other mothers or throw around useless words like "mutilate.
Fertility treatments/Assisted reproduction That's other people's business. It's too personal a decision for me to judge others on.
Assisted suicide We treat our dogs more humanely than we treat our people, in my opinion. Would reduce health care costs by reducing the tremendous waste on end of life costs. There's a time for us all to accept that it's over and to let go.
Illegal Immigrants *not immigration POLICY If the government did not realize that we benefit economically by exploiting illegal workers, there would be no illegal workers. Simple as that. I do not blame illegals for crossing, I blame the system that artificially lowers costs and allows people to be exploited.
Gender Selection You mean, like aborting fetuses of certain genders? I don't like it but believe it's a woman's right, however idiotic that decision may be.
Fat Tax This falls under "sin tax" for me. My opinion is the same.
Shopping Carts They're useful for carrying multiple items at once. Consumers can help keep costs down and just generally be a good person by putting them in their proper places whenever possible. If they can't for whatever reason, it's not the end of the world.
Kids drinking soda/eating candy/poptarts for breakfast Not a good idea as a habit or constant lifestyle, but the occasional soda or junk food choice isn't going to kill anyone. Providing good nutrition by monitoring a child's diet requires not much more vigilance than not and is one of the minimum requirements of a parent.
Peanut Butter bans in schools for nut allergies For children with very sensitive allergies, it may be the best and safest option, and does not overly inconvenience anyone enough not to bother making the effort.
VBACs Sufficiently risk free. Should be an option for any mother with any care provider or hospital. Can control health care costs and prevent waste.
Government involvement in citizens lives Depends on the risk/benefit analysis. Generally, I'm wary of it unless it can be shown to provide great benefit.
Seat Belt law/ laws to protect citizens from themselves Against. I get to decide whether or not to protect my own life and body, because my body belongs to me alone.
Unassisted Childbirthing Can't be bothered to care if other people do it. Would NEVER want it for me
Plastic Surgery I believe it's much better to age gracefully, but if someone wants to spend the money, they should have at it. I don't judge.
Chili (with or without beans) Without. Not because I have strong opinions about the nature of chili but because I generally don't care for beans.
Welfare I believe support for the poor and vulnerable is a hallmark of a good society and necessary infrastructure the government must provide.
dress codes for school/office Because there's always one idiot who will show up in pajamas, they're probably necessary. I hate being made to cover up my tattoos though.
Elective C-sections/elective repeat C-Sections I'd rather she save the system the $$ but if she chooses the Sections I can't stop her, nor can I be bothered to harshly judge her.
Introducing solids 6 months or older is best.
Car Seats Rear facing for as long as possible is best. I'm not altogether sure how I feel about car seat laws.
Spanking I look at it the same way a cop looks at his gun. It's there to ensure you always have a tool to ensure order but if you're doing you're job right, you should almost never have to use it.
Children and Pets Proper care should be taken, but they can be a great way for older children to learn responsibility
and empathy for other creatures, which are vital lessons.
Nursing in Public Where-ever a baby is permitted to be, the mother should be permitted to nurse. With or without a cover.
Cry it Out Smaller increments of time at older ages is sometimes necessary to maintain order. At younger ages or for hours, no.
Television and Infants/Toddlers Small amounts of time is fine. Parking kids in front of the TV all day or leaving it on all day is probably not advisable.
Caring for your elderly parents Parents should endeavor to make their own plans, but as a child who chooses to help care for her mother, the rewards can be great if you choose to do so.
Diamonds I think they're actually rather ugly, the worth is artificially inflated, and they come at great political and social cost to others. I do not buy them, and ask they are not bought for me
In-N-Out Burger Not in my area. Never been
Reborn dolls don't care.
Homosexual orientation/relationships Biological origin. Not a choice. Perfectly valid and permissible lifestyle that costs others nothing.
Polyamory Sometimes more sensible than monogamy. Perfectly valid and permissible lifestyle that costs others nothing.
Scary movies Love them. I don't believe that violent media is a straight line to violent people, so I'm ok with it. As Plato said "the good dream of what the bad do." (Or something like that, I'm paraphrasing.)
Transcultural adoption Difficult, especially if the country you're adopting from have bad social practices regarding infants.
Drug testing welfare recipients Against for too many reasons to distill into one sentence.
"Luxuries" on welfare- vacation, designer accessories, upscale phones, TV w/cable, etc I cannot be bothered to start deciding what other people are worthy of. If the income limits are high enough that one can afford welfare and these things, then lobby the government. Stay out of people's budgets. You have no right into them, regardless of circumstances.
Organized religions Generally against, though I recognize that they are responsible for great charity
Mandatory breastfeeding attempts/prescriptions for formula Against. A mother should have ultimate choice on how she feeds her child, even if we don't agree with that choice. What other choices are you comfortable having a doctor make for you?
Family beds Don't care. If it works for a family, have at it.
TTC on assistance Probably not the brightest idea.
Infants/toddlers in bikini style swim suits Don't care.
Leash backpacks for kids Great tool for teaching children and keeping them safe.
Beauty pageants It's probably not a great idea to teach your child to place so much worth on their appearance that they will submit themselves to be judged on it.
TV watching for kids under age 2 Occasional viewing is fine. Mothers need to cook and clean sometimes too.

Question re: gun control.
I thought gun control just referred to how guns are currently sold. Background checks so they aren't given to felons, age restrictions, etc. I think how things are set up now is fine. I don't want any more gun control than what we currently have. If gun control means strict control as in no one can have a gun except law enforcement, then I change my stance.
Also, Torrie- I loved the way you phrased this
Quote:
"Luxuries" on welfare- vacation, designer accessories, upscale phones, TV w/cable, etc
