I just don't get the obsession grown ups have for this annoying character. I feel like everything has him on it!!! Shoes, clothes, backpacks, carseats... You name it, he is on it. My daughter had never seen it, and we watched one of the movies the other day. I found all of the characters on the show to be so whiney, depressed, and just generally annoying. I generally am against characters on my kids stuff, but am especially against the Winnie the Pooh characters. What's the attraction?

Really, this isn't any different than the vents I have on celebrities I guess.

I think parents graviate to things we like. The idea is so innocent.

My son knows Pooh, but he never really loved it. He has a couple of things with Pooh in them, but he's more into Wiggles and Doodlebops, which I find less annoying- unless it's the fiftieth time of the day he watches the same episode (I used to love my TiVo...).
The one character I can't stand and I'm soooo grateful my son never gave him a second look is Barney. I'm sorry, but he's a mixture between Dino, Jabberjaw and Forest Gump.

My son ADORES Pooh. Pooh was his second word in fact (he said it "puh" instead of "pooh"--it was SO cute). But, I don't see why grown-ups are so crazy about him. I see adults wearing Pooh shirts and I don't get it either.

OMG...Forest Gump...hahahaha! I don't like Pooh either, don't get it. I don't get the whole "Taz" thing either. My dh has one golf shirt with Marvin the Martian on it...that I find funny, that's about it. The Doodlebops? don't get me started

I tend to think that there is some inverse ratio mathematical link to the age of someone wearing a Pooh shirt and their IQ...but that's just me
But for the record, I love Classic Pooh Mattea has ALL the classic pooh stuffed animals already and I'm getting her all the books too! But the new-school pooh is sooo corny!

I couldn't agree more! Nothing is more horrifying to me than seeing nursery plastered with that big whiney bear. Or worse, tigger *twitch*twitch*, LOL. Of course, i'm not a fan of alot of decor types that are seemingly fad or even memories from my past. Holly Hobby, Strawberry Shortcake, Nascar, Camo - all of those just make me want to vomit, LOL. To each their own on that, though.

Speaking of Whiney - Prairie Dawn on sesame street. Thank God for Tivo, I have to fast forward when she comes on.

I want to HUG you.

I HATE Pooh. My son has a few outfits from my MIL that have Pooh on them, I put them on him just because I feel bad, but I steer clear of all things Pooh. I actually went through a BUNCH of clothes when he was little, and got rid of everything that he had with pooh or tigger on it (from my MIL).

I tend to steer clear of character things too, certain things I don't mind, like I don't mind my son wearing Spiderman or Batman PJ's or even tee shirts because that is something my DH loves and it reminds me of classic "old school" little boys, back in the day when boys would be boys, pretending to be save (or take over) the world, but I wouldn't put him in light up Toy Story sneakers or anything *shudder*

My youngest will only wear clothes with characters on it, that is how he is. I see nothing wrong with Pooh. I never shoved it down my kids throats like some parents do but when someone buys my child a Pooh outfit or toy I don't throw it away.

My middle adored pooh, the other two could care less about him. I am fine with pooh, I read the Tao of Pooh. LOL

While on subject of wearing cartoons on clothes, I am also not a fan of tattoos (especially on men) that portray cartoon characters.

You know what's really creepy? That laughing baby in the sun. That show creeps me right out. I think someone was seriously high when creating it.

You know, I've always felt the same way about that on men... Mickey mouse mad comes to mind..

I like Pooh Bear! I don't wear it or anything, but I did get a lot of Pooh Bear stuff for my daughter. I watched the show when I was little and Iloved it! Now it just reminds me of innocence and my childhood. Same goes for Looney Tunes. Except I still like to watch Looney Tunes because I think they're funny!

Kid at heart, I guess. But I agree about Telletubbies! *shudders* CREEPY!

LOL LOL LOL this thread is great. My oldest LOVED Barney and I cant stand him. But the one that really gets to me now is Caillou. What a faggy little boy! OMG When that show comes on I get that nails on a chalk board feeling! When DD1 was around 1 the Rugrats came out and I was like YEAH finally a cartoon show that I can deal with. Now that I am starting all over with DD2 I am not letting her watch anything but the pbs childrens channel or baby einstein movies. Teletubbies dont bother me for some reason, probably only because its Dd favorite and I love hearing her laugh when they are on. Otherwise I probably would think they are weird too. Wasnt there a big controversy with them years ago. As I didnt have any little kids then I dont really remember the whole thing only that someone was saying they were gay. LOL Now whats the story with Bert and Ernie? JK I know somewhere along the years I heard talk about that too. Come on thier characters/puppets in kids shows. People need to stop overthinking these things.
I do agree about adults wearing characters or tattoos of characters. I dont get it at all.

I do think Pooh and the other characters are cute. Especially the old style Pooh. But, I haven't seen any shows or movies recently so I can't say anything about that. I wouldn't do my childs bedroom in the theme or anything but we have a couple outfits and bottles with the old style Pooh on them. One thing I don't care for though is the name Pooh.... and why to they spell Honey "Hunny"? If it's for kids and kids will be learning to spell, I think it could just be confusing.

Ok, I know that was so un-PC, but I literally cracked up at my desk when I read it...outloud

Did anyone else think that Teletubbies was one of those cartoons really created for adults, kinda like Beavis & Butthead.....only for adults on acid? I truly beleive it.

I think pooh bear is cute but i don't go out and buy my kids pooh clothes or other characters unless they really like them.
My dh won't allow any teletubby things in our house he says they will prevent your child from talking properly and they just annoy him.
My kids prefer the wiggles.
