DH just bought me a nice wool peacoat, black, with the 6 buttons, comes down to about mid-thigh. I had my MIL take it in (was a size medium, couldn't find it in a small), and she told DH that it was outdated and out of style.

Can peacoats go out of style? I thought they were the one type of clothing that was always classic!

If I were teeny tiny I would love to wear a peacoat! But alas, they do not compliment chubby chicas. Your mother in law obviously has no idea what she is talking about.

I don't know what your MIL is like - but the last person I would take fashion advice from is my MIL - okay, well maybe MY mom too!

My mom actually bought me something once & I thought it was ugly & since we never agree I thought I would try shopping for you this way???

It WAS ugly - she was right.

And no - I don't think peacoats EVER go out of style!

love peacoats, I considered buying me a new one this winter but decided to wait because I already have two coats and I bought a ton of new clothes last year to accommodate the girls (or was it the love muffins )

I love peacoats, my daughter actually had a light pink peacoat as her first winter coat... it was so adorable! I also have a nice one from Gap that I love. I hardly ever wear a coat, but when I do it is great!
