Anyone have any good book ideas? I have tried to read two books lately. One was the “God delusion”....he is pretty much singing to the choir on that one. Then I started to read the "Power of now" and I could not get into it's just a bit too much for me.

I need something that I can just sink into...Any ideas?

: Probably!!

That's good though, I read tons of books on parenting when my babies were little. Once they are toddlers though, they are own their own.

I should be studying right now (or mopping the kitchen floor) and not debating. Owen just went down for a nap and he has seriously been a handful the last few days, so I can't get anything done.

A few weeks ago I was reading a book called "Buddhism for Mothers" by Sarah Napthali. I'd recommend it to anyone, regardless of religion, it had some good advice on dealing with toddlers!

I'm currently bopping between "Thus Spoke Zarathus" by Neitzsche and "Cosmic Jackpot" by Paul Davies (thanks katydid!). The Neitzsche is my husband's, generally he's (Neitzsche, not my husband) not my cup of tea, but it was something I hadn't read and I was waiting for the Davies book to get to me!

I am about 3/4 through "Polio: An American Story", I have a Bradley Childbirth book to devour, a book entitled "Scientific Answers to Bible Mysteries"; not sure what to make of it, but it sounds interesting.

It's brand spanking new I do believe, Courtney!! I got it at Wally world for $18 (it's probably cheaper on Amazon). It's a book he had written as Richard Bachman back in the 70's I believe...pretty good so far. Have you read Lisey's Story yet? I tried to start it but I guess I wasn't in the mood, I couldn't get past the first chapter (I need to try again). I also just finished Cell for the second time....very good. I think my favorite ones are From a Buick 8, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and Bag of Bones. How about you?

I'm SO yelling at my mom when I talk to her next! lol She usually keeps me up to date with this stuff!

I actually liked Lisey's Story, but it was kind of slow. You had to get to the middle of the book before it became interesting lol THEN you couldn't put it down. But he kept using one word ("smucking") over and over and over again and it made you want to drive to Maine and smack him! Literally lol

I have literallly read Pet Semetary at LEAST 50 times, and I'm not kidding when I say it still freaks me out to this day! lol

I hated the Dark Tower series, and Cell I only kinda liked. It was a good story but the ending was typical King and pissed. me. off!

I really liked Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, Dolores Claiborne, Insomnia, and Misery.

I read a whole lot, but most of it is random scifi or fantasy that I doubt many people here would be interested in, heh. I'm currently re-reading Harry Potter 5 and 6 in anticipation for 7...

I liked that one! I'm a big SK fan too. That book made me think twice the next time I went to use my cell phone!

I am totally waiting for the new Harry Potter. I don't care if that makes me a giant dork or what! I love HP! I am reading What to Expect the First Year now. I don't have time for much else right now.

I just finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and I just started reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (before you yell at me, I have read them before lol, and yes I know I'm reading them out of order! ). I'm also reading Helter Skelter, Holy Blood Holy Grail, How To Make Love Like a Pornstar by Jenna Jameson (it's the only thing to read at work besides sex instruction books), and I'm re-reading the Golden Compass in anticipation for the movie.

I read a lot.

That is one of my absolute favorite books. It was amazing.

I have read a ton already this summer! So far I have read:
The Pact by Jodi Picoult - she's my favorite, loved it but not the best work of hers IMO
Tenth Circle also by Picoult - fabulous
Me & Emma by Elizabeth Flock - Some parts were very disturbing but overall, an awesome book. I highly reccomend it.
But Inside I'm Screaming by Elizabeth Flock - good, but predictable

I tried to read Paint It Black by Janet Fitch and I couldn't get past the first 15 pages. I was pretty annoyed, because I really enjoyed her first book, White Oleander.

I have Songs of the Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult on hold at the library right now to be picked up tomorrow. I am trying to read everything by her I can find, so far I have enjoyed all of her books that I've read. I'll also be reading The Book Thief for a book club on another board I frequent, can't remember the name of the author off the top of my head. And I'll be indulging my guilty pleasure and catching up on some Gossip Girl books at the beach next month. They are so trashy but I'm hooked

Yeah, I work at a sex shop. Although my manager prefers the term "adult novelty store". It's fun usually. We do get the occasional weirdo, and I get hit on a lot, but overall I like it! Plus I get discounts. Heh.
