So many people say they would not/do not let their child(ren) watch the Teletubbies.
Do you/will you allow your child(ren) to watch Teletubbies, and if no, why not?

I find them to be incredibly weird and they give me the creeps personally, but if Caleb wanted to watch them he could, but he usually watches Disney or Nickelodeon.

I agree with you on that one! Who ever created that show must have been tripping on acid!

I had them on for Emma one day while I was getting the house ready for my mom to come visit and when my mom got here, she immediately began visiting with Emma. After about 45 seconds, she goes: "This is the creepiest show I've ever seen in my life."

Emma likes them but they are really weird!

I think the teletubbies are a bit creepy and kinda pointless... but I don't freak out and change the channel if they come on. I think Blue's Clues or Diego is on at the same time and Kara likes those better anyway, so we usually watch that.

My main reason for avoiding them with my kids is that I don't think the show has any redeeming qualities. The teletubbies speak gibberish, so I just don't see how it could be even slightly beneficial. Macey was always a Barney fan and Backyardigans, now she is really into Hannah Montana (but she still watches Backyardigans and Jacks Big Music show with Sam when no one is watching). Both kids are huge Laurie Berkner fans, and I kinda think the songs are catchy too.

Yeah those Barney kids are the most over-emoting actors ever - and they don't behave like any kids I know - but then again I don't know any big purple dinosaurs either

I do think Teletubbies have some redeeming qualities - they are non-violent, they take turns, they learn from their mistakes, they are loving to each other - they do talk gibberish but I don't find aything wrong with that - at least their language isn't rude or bratty. My son watched them almost exclusively for months when he was learning to talk, he had all the videos and they were his fave - but when we made a list at 15 mos his vocabulary was over 150 clearly spoken words, so the Teletubbies didn't have a negative effect on his speech. And he was also a pacifier junkie, another thing people told us would affect his speech but didn't. Our favorite part of the Teletubbies is the little vignettes of real children doing things.

I don't have a problem with them, but that's just me. I have no idea when they're on... they used to freak me out when I was a teenager and accidentally turned to the channel!! Crazy!

The only thing that has ever creeped me out on the teletubbies is an episode I saw where they were squeezing custard out of this machine and kept saying custard and then eat it! it was weird!

I just think they're weird and they get on my nerves.
I only let DD watch shows she can learn something from. We stick to Nick Jr. and Noggin.
