Update on Biopsy...

I never updated here, but figured I need to now.

My biopsy came back with pre-cancerous cells on my cervix. At first we were going to go in and have them burned off. After talking with my Dr., we then decided to schedule a Lap. A. So that they can do the burning while I'm under. B. So that they can burn off some endometriosis, and have a look around. In the end, though, it's been decided to go in, do a hysterectomy, and burn off the leftover endo. This will rid me of the chances of developing cancer later in life, rid me of the horrible pain I've lived with for years because of endo and the cervical pain. I have Endo, PCOS, MTHFR gene mutation, and Thrombophilia. All of these things combined mean getting pregnant will be near impossible, and if I do, because of the Thrombophilia, pregnancy would be dangerous, birth would be even more dangerous, and my newborn's life would be on the line for up to 2 weeks after birth. So we've decided to cut my losses, so that I can live a (physically) pain free and cancer free life, and save myself the possible heartache of infertility and/or more losses.

Details haven't been discussed yet, but it's likely uterus, cervix and one ovary(the bad one) will be removed. They'll likely leave the good ovary so that I can avoid menopause at 23. I can't go on hormone replacement therapy because of the Thrombophilia, so if they take both ovaries I'm pretty much screwed...

Anyway, I just wanted to share. Thanks for listening.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I cannot even imagine how painful (in more than one way) that must be for you. Lots of good thoughts and prayers!

Thank-you so much ladies! I have another appt. on Friday to decide all of the details. Laparospic, Incision, etc. Hoping I get to keep my good ovary, but we won't know that until he gets in there. I'm scared, but also can't wait for it to be here and over, so that I can be rid of this horrible pain!

I do :) I live with my parents for now since I'm going back to school. My Mom just had major back surgery not even 2 months ago. But My Aunt is going to fly in for the surgery and some of the recovery, so she'll be here for help. She's a hospital administrator, so it's nice to have her to bounce this stuff off of her head.

I'm sorry! That seems like a lot. I'm sorry if I am overstepping but have you considered a second opinion? It just seems extreme to skip over the other treatment options to hysterectomy.

It does seem drastic from the outside looking in, I know. But in my Dr.'s eyes, my eyes, and my parents' eyes; who have watched me suffer for so long with multiple problems having to do with my reproductive organs, it makes complete sense. The multitude of problems, each with their own pain, their own treatments, their own meds, their own complications to life; have all added up to a very poor quality of life, as far as we're concerned. I'm basically choosing between being able to have bio children, or being pain and med free. I can adopt, and actually always have wanted to anyway, but I can't be pain free without this surgery. It's the light at the end of the tunnel to us. I am a little scared, but mostly I'm excited for this to be over with, so that I can recover and begin my pain free life!

The pain is from the endo right? I suffer from endo and have tried like heck to get a doctor to give me a hysterectomy for the past two years. Not a one would touch be due to age. I was also told that hysterectomies are not the cure all for endo. It sucks but I hope you can find relief.

The worst of the pain is from the endo. I also have cervix pain most of the time, especially bad when I need to pee. That's because of the inflammation. Thankfully I have an RE that will do what I want, as long as he isn't completely opposed to it. He really lets me take charge of my care.
