Talking about grief

Do you find it difficult to talk about your feelings of grief IRL? Do you find it easier to talk about it with friends you have met online?

Re: Talking about grief

i have a terrible time talking about it. i find i do better if things are treated in a matter-of-fact way. i do not do well with the hugs and the are you ok's and the sympathy. it sometimes feel that people relish in the extreme emotions of grief, and while that may work for some - that is not the way i am wired. sympathy makes me break down completely which i hate- it doesnt cleanse me, i try to fight it and it is exhausting. i do it privately, - that is when it is healing for me i do not like to do it with an audience, i do not need an audience to make my grief feel "real". i wonder what kind of a person that makes me?

it is much easier for me to vent my feelings online. i can handle cyber sympathy much better!
