I still haven't seen the neurologist so I don't have an official diagnosis yet, other than I know she has epilepsy based on the results of her EEG. I've been posting on another epilepsy forum and I'm fairly certain that she is having grand mal (tonic-clonic) seizures. She had one today that scared me to death. She was convulsing for what seemed like forever, about 3 to 5 minutes. I can't say for sure how long it was but it was at least three minutes but probably longer.

I wish I could see the neurologist sooner because I have so many questions.

Kaiden had benign myoclonic seizures, about a month after receiving the DTaP vax. There is a correlation (not definitively proven though) regarding the DTaP and those particular kind of seizures. In the long run, he turned out to be sensitive to all nightshade foods, and eliminating those from his diet not only eliminated the seizures, but woke him from the fog everyone said was Down Syndrome. He's still delayed, but the difference in him is night and day!

Logan has Petite Mal Seizures. He was diagnosed when they started happening. He is 8 now and on Meds. They are controlled. I haven't seen any in a year. We used to see 100+ a day. They are just short 5-30 seconds of what looks like he is spacing out....blinking eyes- he would just not "be there" then he would come out of it as if nothing happened.

I forgot to ask. How old is Angie?

Praying for her Patty- I hope you get some answers and direction soon. Did you put a call into her Pedi when this happened?

WOw Greenchild- Kaiden has an amazing story. Is he taking any medication? What are night shade foods? Like gluten free?

Nightshade foods are tomatoes, potatoes, jicamas, all peppers (sweet and hot), eggplant, paprika, tomatillos, ground cherries, wolf (goji) berries, there's more. You have to watch for modified food starch (potatoes) and anything listed as natural flavorings, spices, spice extractives, etc. Paprika is widely used as flavoring and as a food coloring, and is also one of Kaiden's worst triggers. We are actually on the paleo diet, which is grain, dairy, legume, and nightshade free. All fresh fruits/veggies, meats, nuts/seeds.

He's on a variety of natural supplements like vitamins and stuff that helps him focus, but no anti-seizure meds.

Ava has Absense seizures and atonic (drop) seizures. She also has global abnormalities and decreased myelination. This is all caused by he underlying disease, Mitochondrial disease. I wish none of you had to deal with this too.

Angie just saw the neurologist yesterday so I have a better idea of what we are dealing with. I believe she is having tonic-clonic, absence, and myoclonic seizures. They said she had generalized epilepsy.

I know a little about mitochondrial diseases because Brandon was screened for all of this but I don't know that much. I am sorry you have to deal with this.
