Hello..

About three weeks a go I recieved a call from my doctors office informing me I hada shorten cervix (2.3cm) and would be required to be on bed rest. I am now considered a high risk pregnancy and I was wondering if any other mothers have had this or are currently going through the same situation?

Thanks

I'm not currently pregnant. But have a question. Has the dr talked about the clerage (I think it's called) They put a stick in your cervix, so it won't open sooner then it should.

How far along are you? I was on bedrest with my daughter from 28 weeks on

I have a short cervix too. (1.3CM) We talked about cerclage... a stitch around the cervix to keep it from dialating.... We decided to watch it and see if/ how it changed. It's just short. It hasn't changed. No dialating... it really depends on why it's short. I'm 31 weeks now and still haven't had any real problems with it. How far along are you? Are you being checked for preterm labor? Dialation? It may not be anything serious. ((hug)) I hope you get more information and things turn out to be just fine. In my case I see a perinatologist every 2 weeks for sonograms to monitor my cervix. Unless it changes more.. no bed rest for me.

Jalin! I'm very releived you are still holding in there and not dialating any!

Im 22 weeks and have my first visit with a perinatologist this monday. I was the the ER a couple of days ago for cramping, which has gotten better but still hasn't fully gone away.

Thanks

The doctor talked about the stitch but I wouldn't want to risk breaking the "sack" if I stay at 2.3cm

Thanks

With my son I was on bedrest in the hospital in preterm labor with a cervix length of 1.7. I was put on bedrest at 26 weeks. This was first noticed at 20 weeks with a length of 2.7. so it obviously got shorter

This time, at 15 weeks with a length of 1 cm I was stiched up and am now on bed rest at home. My length has now stayed steady at 1.9 to 2cm

Ive been steady at 2.3cm even though its only been 3 weeks I am still keeping positive about the whole ordeal.

btw when in July are you due? Hopefully,if everything goes right I should be due either the 4th or 5th of JUly.

Thanks

My last pregnancy I had a shorten cervix at 3 months already. They recommended a cerclage but I refused. At 6 months I was told to stay in the hospital until I give birth. Bed rest is horrible, but you gotta do it. One thing to remember when you cervix is shorten and this is what my doctor has told me to stay away from is having sex. It's very bad on the cervix if you have a orgasm. Especially if you have a cerclage in.
